Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Good course
I thoroughly enjoyed my day playing this course. There was a lot of water but it made it more fun. The staff was friendly and course was easy to navigate. The only complaint that I have is that is had too much sand on the greens, but I'm from Ohio where that is not a problem, the other two courses I played had the same problem. If you play in the afternoon it is not an issue but in the morning it is wet, the sand sticks to the ball and becomes a problem putting.
Not worth the money
Using Golf Now, this was the only course available at a reasonable time under $110 per player.
The best part of the course the sand traps near the greens. Other than that, there was sand in almost ever single lie, even at times, on the greens.
The fairway grass is so close to the ground that they look like a par three tee box; sand/seed mix poured everywhere because there are NO divots to replace.
The greens had something that looked like a dried green ash in large spots/ weird.
I do not like to assume but I doubt there is any irrigation on this course, including the greens.
Then there is the jet noise. That is not the fault of the course, but it makes the terrible condition even worse.
In summary, skip the course.
To say something positive the people and the pro shop are really nice
Great course to play
Fun day, weather was great. Greens are fast but coming out of the winter dormant season. It really hasn't been warm enough yet for the growing season to kick in so there was some bumpiness to the greens. This should be temporary until they really start growing again.
Worth the Price!
Course is always in pretty god shape, needs a little more attention to the fairways, but otherwise a decent and challenging course for the money. Pin placement was very challenging and didn't like that, we weren't playing in a tournament so not sure why the pins were all tucked away on the greens. Course card needs hole layouts and/or update to some GPS for yardage calculations on the course. Several holes have hidden shots and are layup drives.
Disappointing
I’d played solo in the afternoon. Disappointing considering the long time and large amt of money used to upgrade the course. Far too many patches and sand in the fairways and greens are embarrassing. Do something soon GM or you’ll start losing members!
Good Value
Due to poor weather it needs another month for the greens and fairways to grow in.
If you want to play an unrushed round of golf on fair layout with reasonable rates compared to the gulf coast courses this is it.
Destin trip
Staff friendly fairways brown grass tight greens very fast but also brown great layout enjoyed my round lot of layup shots ,water at strategic spots bunkers pure white sand very nice
Over priced for course condition
The course has a nice layout but the greens left much to desired with several bare spots on the greens.
The fairways very dormant with little to no grass in most areas
Not in the best shape.
The course is showing its age and a number of greens were damaged. It needs some TLC to be worth what the charge for green fees.
expected a nicer course for. 4star rating. could have been the time of year.. very brown
Thank you for playing with us and providing the review. The sand on the green is a common occurrence around here for topdressing. Sorry about that. We are glad you enjoyed it and look forward to hosting you again soon!
