Course has a lot of potential, great staff
This is an old golf course, 1922, that at one time would have been premiere. Today, the greens are good, but the fairway is rundown. This could be a great course if they would seed the fairway and keep it trimmed better. The course has an interesting layout with three hidden holes, and a couple of very long par threes. The staff was very nice, and you cannot beat the price to play here. It is a nine hole course, so we played it twice. A fair amount of up and down terrain so it will challenge a walker. (We didn't walk). If you are in the Louisville area it is well worth the trip to play this quaint nine hole course.
Bad course but nice staff
Disappointed to find out that this is a 9 hole course. So when you pay for 18, you have to play the same 9 twice. Also the fairways and greens were in rough shape. The staff was very friendly though.
Sunday round
Course had lots of rain prior to round and staff had a tough time mowing. Nice course for green fees. Staff was very friendly and willing to help. They also have a lot of events.
Will go back.
New Albany Golf Course
The staff has worked very hard this spring/summer to get this course in very good shape! The grass is nice and the fairways/greens play well. Great value! Will definitely be returning
Very good local course
Despite having a week and a half of extreme heat the course was still in good shape. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. You can tell the course is being taken care of to the best of their ability. Great value for your money.
Great Value, Well Kept Course
This course is obviously not a PGA tour course, but it was very well kept and the green's were beautiful and ran pure. Quality 9 hole course and well worth the price. Every hole provides a fresh new challenge. This course continues to improve from where it was in the past. The staff was friendly. You can tell this place is under good management. Will be happy to play again sometime.
Total Jank.
Paid $20 total on golfnow for 18 holes and a cart.. Paid too much.
I know that it's still earlyish in the spring, but come on guys. If ever this course had a prime, it's over. The conditions were laughable at this place; barely marked layout, 6-8" tall dandelions all over the fairway and the rough, greens that haven't been attended to in who knows how long, unmarked hazards, random spots under construction that looked as though they were just given up on, etc. The weather was absolutely beautiful though, and I saw a few deer meander out of the woods. Otherwise, if you are looking for a good golfing experience with maintained anything-- this is not the place for you. If you just want to go hit the ball around for awhile, this is probably more what you're looking for. It's a shame.. This could have been a decent course if it was mowed on a regular basis.
great course for the money
this course is really coming around, greens are in the best condition ive seen them in. we really enjoyed our round.
Worst Course in the Area
This course is in horrible condition. A total waste of money.
Needs a lot of work.
Greens were very playable. The best part of the course!
Majority of tee boxes were horriffic. The fairways were about 2/3 grown in but need to be mowed. Also, the rough was way to high. In general, I played 12 holes and the over all condition except the greens was very poor. The course is NOT marked very well either. A first timer would be lost after the second hole. In the 3 hours I was there, I never seen ONE employee mowing.
This course makes some Louisville City courses look like Pete Dye courses. Staff are great people but the course needs a lot of maintenance! OH, did I mention that there is NO sand in the traps!
Well worth the $$$
Nice little course I have played a few times. Staff is great always super friendly, and the place is coming along nicely after the excessive rain this spring. I will be back again soon!
Course is coming around nicely
Overall, this course is coming around nicely, don't be scared it is a really fun course to play. Great value for the money. And the staff really wants you to enjoy your time here.
Okay, so I had played this multiple times last year and was always a great value for the money. I wondered why I had seen the really negative reviews this year, but I thought I would give it a go anyways.
Good:
Staff is always a treat and very friendly
Course layout- this is a great course for a big range of golfers
Greens were in great shape
The staff is working super hard to make it better
Not so Good:
The course was wrecked early with heavy rains
The fairways are still waking up, but should be good really soon
A few tee boxes need attention
Course needs some time to recover from early year troubles.
Greens coming in nicely...
Bang for the buck and always an enjoyable round! Not too many places around that are more accomodating to the "casual" golfer...
Course Conditions BETTER
Het guys - Cary Hammond with New Albany Springs Golf Course here. Just wanted to update the Golf Now golfers after the past couple of reviews. YES Mother Nature really kicked our butts this spring - the course flooded three times. Now since our dedicated staff has put in overtime - the course is in much better condition. The greens are recovering from aeration. The grass is cut. New tee markers have been installed - the old ones floated down the river. The course conditions are much BETTER. Course is in BETTER shape!!
Hey guys, Cary Hammond with New Albany Golf, here. I just wanted to respond to the last couple reviews. YES Mother Nature kicked our butts in April - the course flooded 3 times and I am truely sorry that the course was not cut - we could not get our mowers on the golf course - they just sank in the muck and mud. YES the tee markers were not there - they floated down the stream.... BUT now after some over time and hard work by a dedicated staff the course is in much better shape. The greens were aerified - because any good golf course will aerify greens. The bermuda grass is finally waking up, but I do have some holes that have some weak fairways.... but the course is in much better shape. Come out and give it a try. The course will be 100 years old in just a few years - a classic design and layout. Cary Hammond
If you need to get kut
The staff exceeded my expectations, were super friendly and helpful. The course was mostly like a back yard. Few tee boxes had grass or could even really be called a tee box. The greens were average and consistent. You get what you pay for, I played 18 holes (2 times around) for $10 with a cart.
Better wait awhile to play this course
I was not happy with the appearance of this golf course. Like many courses, the Bermuda grass has not grown in on the fairways. But, I was very disappointed that the rough and the rest of the course area had not been mowed recently (one person mowing during the course of play today). The greens had been aeorated recently, so were still full of holes and sand, making putting an adventure. Spent too much time looking for balls in 5-6 inch rough just off the fairway because it had not been mowed. Even the places that had been moved had many piles of dried grass for balls to hid in. Loss more balls today than at all other courses played this spring. It will be awhile before I decide to give this course another day of play. Hopefully, it will be in better shape that day.
This course is literally the worst golf course I've been to.
My boyfriend and I went to this course, not expecting the greatest course in the state but at least an average course. This was not the case. First off, there was dandelions all over the course. And I mean ALL over. Along with the grass being overgrown and U.S. Losing multiple golf balls. Not only that, but there were many holes that didn't have any tee markers. So we had no clue where to hit from. There was one hole specifically, that had empty coke bottles as tee markers. As far as the pace of play goes, they had a five-some playing in front of us(four boys and their dad). Needless to say we will never go back. We left after the 10th hole because it was so aggravating.
Good Value for the Money
The greens were in great shape, I was really impressed. Its still early and the fairways have not come in yet so they were basically a thin coat of thin brown grass over a bunch of dirt. Course has a lot of character and is one of the cheapest places in town to play. I finished up by 3:00 and it was getting really busy then.
Fun with great people in club house
Challenging course and great person at counter. We will go back and play again.
