Fun hot day
Need rain. It was a hot day. Everyone was friendly. I want to go back again soon.
This course is not ready for skilled players
This course while having an interesting layout needs a lot of work. Maybe next year things will be different
Greens excellent
Really had a good time-Green's were excellent-Fairways needed a little work but very fun course to play and will go back
Lucas Oil Golf course - don't let the name mislead you, this course is bad.
I played this course a few years ago and said I'd never play it again but, with the Lucas Oil name and website, it had to be better, right? Only thing better was the cart paths and newer carts, same horrible ground keeper and management staff.
I played this course in late June 2014, the fairways and tee boxes had more bare dirt than grass, the greens were painted to make them look good and to top it off, the staff was not very pleasant. I don't know what tie Lucas Oil has but, it definitely is notting to be proud of. I think it's more a watering hole for area residence than a golf course, and the staff seems to match that.
I've played lesser priced course hat were twice as nice as this one.
Where did the money Go?
Not sure what affiliation Forrest Lucas or Lucas Oil has with this course, but I would distance myself immediately. However, whoever is responsible for Marketing this course is a genius. I don't think I will ever golf at this course again and I would not recommend to anyone, if I don't like them. The punishment would be cruel and unusual. I get with a hard winter, Southern Indiana fairways have taken a beating. However, barren dirt Tee Boxes are unacceptable. Water Cooler boxes missing a cooler, but filled with empty cups is like visiting the gas station to buy a new tank you can't fill with gas. The big question is, where did the money go? My advise, Run Forrest, Run!
Lucas Oil
The course was a big change from the last time I played it, they have paved cart paths all around, have some great greens, have basically spruced the course up all over. It is in good condition, the fairways and tees need some work, but the weather should help that out. The effort to make this a nice place to play is paying off. Go play it and be surprised
Interesting layout but bad conditions
I don't know if its just because it was early in the year or what but the course was in terrible shape. NONE of the bunkers had any sand, they were just dirt or mud. All fairways were 90% dormant. The greens were OK, but very firm.
Staff was very busy and not very professional, but prices at the bar for food and drinks were cheap and everything we had there was good. I'd maybe go back later in the summer, but I wouldn't pay full price ever.
Great Overall Experience
The people were very friendly and the golf course was in good condition. The scenery around the course was beautiful as well. I will definitely go back.
Needs a couple months
There are no fairways. Just muddy lanes. No grass. It's May 1st.
The greens are amazing.
Never Again!
Dr. Hurdzan (the architect) needs to pay them to get his name off it! I'm sure his original design had promise, but it's barely playable now. Ruts everywhere, weeds galore. I could go on and on but why? Just stay away; even free golf there would be a ripoff. To be fair I will say this: they are renovating the clubhouse and improving the cart paths and there was evidence of reworking the traps. Personally, I would have started with the tee boxes, fairways, greens and rough. Oh well, it's their money.
Breathtaking views
Cart paths recently paved and bunkers are being upgraded
now[winter 2011-2012] , by spring course should be in great shape. Also the course is a challenge to any level golfer
so bring your A game.
