Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest
About
Opened in 2010, it did not take Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest long to be ranked as one of the "top 10 best courses you can play in North Carolina" by Golfweek. It was quite a feat to create a course that stood out in an area known for its exceptional golf, but designer Tim Cate mastered the challenge. Although it was carefully carved through acres of forest, the trees don't play much of a role on the course. Sand and water will be the most formidable challenges on this links layout. Golfers can expect forced carries over native marshes and massive waste bunkers strategically placed throughout. There are challenges in store for players of all skill levels but Cape Fear National is also a fair and straightforward test with no hidden hazards.

Cape Fear National
Course was aerated about 2-3 weeks prior, so the greens were a little bumpy. Due to that fact, you would think they would give a little discount off the full rack rate.
Other that that, the course was in good shape and a real enjoyable layout. Played with my wife who said it was a fair but challenging for ladies.
Would definitely play again. A don't miss course if you're in the area.
Tee’d off
The course was ok. For the money I would have expected Cart GPS or at least a yardage book for the layout. There was no early warning lightning alert system. Very poor weather management. The range wasn’t set up very well. Greens were bad. They had been punched 8 days prior and my guest paid full rate.
I’m sure it’s a one time experience, but I won’t be back.
NC gem
Outstanding course, really enjoyed the whole experience (except some of my play!). Course is in great shape, well watered through the drought has it green, and long! Greens rolled great!!
Speed up greens
If the greens were given more speed, I would of given 5 stars. The greens were just too slow. Other than that all was great.
Real nice layout
Cape Fear National is a must play when in the Wilmington area. The downside is that they seem to be getting less and less reliant on public play and therefore morning tee times are difficult to find.
What a beast!!!
I play to a scratch and had my a#% handed to me!!!
I haven’t shot in the 90s since I started playing golf. After a one day rest, I will be there tomorrow with a little course knowledge and a lot more respect... Now, if I can only stop thinking about revenge and get some sleep, perhaps things will go a little better... Good night CFN, see you manana

A Jewel to Tour
This course "has it", even the oddity of both the front 9 and back 9 ending with a par 3 hole. It is both fun and (if scoring is one's aim) challenging in the same breathe, and the hole variety was pleasant to experience. Other than having slightly slow greens along with collars that stop or slow a ball like Velcro, not much better in the geographic area can touch it.
Loved it
Great golf course great condition good people worth the price.
Got time ??
Two and one-half hours for nine holes.
Never saw a ranger.
Nice course. Good condition. Nice layout.
They have a pace of play problem.
