Located just minutes from Wilmington, the conveniently situated Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation is also less than a half hour from North Carolina's beautiful beaches. The club offers three different nines that can be played in three 18-hole combinations. Named after the flowers that can be seen growing throughout the area, the Magnolia and Camellia make up what is considered the championship course while the Azalea nine offers a more player-friendly nine. The Camellia/Azalea combination winds through forests of mature trees. Sparkling lakes and ponds also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole on the golf course. The back nine, the Azalea, is supposedly the easiest of the three but it still offers a challenge, especially on the fifth hole, which features a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Great greens

We enjoyed beautiful weather as well as fantastic greens at Magnolia Greens. The greens rolled very true and smooth, although some pin placements were treacherous.
Really enjoyed the experience and look forward to playing the course again

Always nice!

Really love this this course...Enough difficulty to keep you humble....But, fair. I have played this course a few times as I live in the neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food at the turn is very good. (Blossoms) You can tell when you play this course that a lot of time is spent maintaining the greens, fairways and rough. I have noticed lately that the fairways seem to have a lot of unfilled divots...(COME ON PEOPLE) but overall...an excellent round of golf.

Nice round of golf at the beach

Camellia was our front 9 and was in outstanding shape. Fairways and greens were perfect. Azalea was our back nine and was not quite as nice. Fairways were still quite nice but the greens were not as great as Camellia. We are average 12 handicap golfers and enjoyed our round from the blue tees. Not terribly difficult but still challenging. We wish the Azalea greens were as great as the Camellia greens, but overall we had a nice time for a good price. We would play this course again when we return to the Kure Beach area.

A Great Option in the Wilmington NC Area

Had played Cape Fear and Castle Bay, and wanted to play a third day, so after looking around we chose Magnolia Greens. Overall a great experience: Friendly staff, course is in great shape and a fun layout. There are 27 holes and we played the Magnolia/Carmelia 18. I play a lot of golf with my wife, and we both agreed it was very "woman friendly", as the forward tees made it an enjoyable experience for her, unlike many courses that don't provide much relief for shorter hitters. Everything made for an enjoyable day..

$53 Rack Rate--$44 Hotdeal, Save Your Money

Not even close to being worth what they charge. Staff extremely friendly, clubhouse looked great and course was in good condition. The problem is the layout is extremely boring and quirky in a couple of spots. Personally I wouldn't pay more then $25 to play Magnolia, drive 30 minutes pay $30 and play a far superior course at Masonboro.

Nice Course & Friendly Staff

Pro Shop staff was extremely helpful and friendly. (Some of the nicest I have been around). As a female golfer, it is a plus any time we are made to feel welcome.
The course was in great shape. We were surprised how good it was after reading other reviews about problems with the greens. We thought they rolled just fine and the fairways were in great shape.
We played the Azalea and Magnolia courses. There are several water hazards and blind shots from hills or double turns. My son played with me and had a few long drives that were good shots, but they were punished by being hit through a turn or into a hazard he couldn't see from the tee. Expect unexpected challenges.
We played on a late Monday afternoon (til dark) and never had to wait on a shot.
Playing at Magnolia Greens was one of the highlights of our mini-vacation to the Wilmington area!

Course had great challenges

Course was well maintained and the staff was extremely helpful and personal. The course learned many challenges with narrow fairways and water throughout. I enjoyed the course and for to visit again.

Back 9 greens

Had a very good experience overall, the only complaint is the condition of the greens on the back 9 holes. There was obviously some kind of issues that caused the replacement of turf, for the most part just call it a 2 putt and go.

Excellent weather

Troubled greens

Nice course, and I would come back and play if the greens were repaired and grown in. Must have been a harsh winter and spring -- many of the greens had issues, some were pretty serious.

The fairways were great, the rough wasn't too penalizing. Pace of play really good. We played all 3 nines -- and the Azalea had the worst greens.

I liked the look of the course and the original Azalea and Magnolia were the nicer nines.

Magnolia Greens great bang for your buck!

This course was great and even better for the $. I started my round at 4:30pm and finished by 7:30pm on a Wednesday. Greens rolled quick given the time of year and the course layout was challenging in a good way. I would recommend this course to any traveler or vacationer in the Wilmington area!

What a great place and a great value

27 holes of beautiful fairways and bermuda greens. Not too much water but enough to make you careful with your shots. A few doglegs and blind shots as well as bunkers to make you pay if you aren't careful. Wide fairways with bunkers scattered about to force a lay up, a well placed drive or a heck of a long drive. Houses all around but not in play due to the wide fairways and layout.
30 min from Wrightsville beach (hour at rush hour).
Staff in clubhouse, restaurant and bar are probably the nicest I've seen. Hotel recommended for a great round of golf at a great price. We were late for our tee time as we weren't familiar with the area and the club staff said "not a problem, well get you on".
Played until dark and then had dinner and drinks at clubhouse. They had a good crowd and best burger I've had in a long time. I'll be playing here anytime I'm in the area.
Plenty of restaurants and shops on the main highway as you come into the area.

Good Greens

Greens were in great shape and the pace of play was adequate. There was no beer cart for a fairly busy day which was disappointing.
