Magnolia Greens Golf Course - Magnolia/Azalea
About
Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation in Leland is a 27-hole layout that offers a championship course as well as another, more player-friendly nine. The three nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The courses are named after the colorful blooms that can be found throughout: Camellia, Magnolia, and Azalea. The Camellia/Magnolia combination is the championship layout. The Magnolia/Azalea Course is a challenging but playable combination that will appeal to any skill level. The golf course is routed through forests of mature trees and also across grassy meadows, providing a diverse landscape that will test you with a variety of different shots. Water comes into play on almost every hole, most notably on the back nine, Azalea, where there is a tricky island green. In addition to the course, Magnolia Greens also has a practice range, putting and chipping greens, and two practice bunkers.

Nice course, super staff. Kudos to Matt...in the pro shop
Very friendly staff...decent course in good condition. Not Augusta, but overall 4***.
Nice course
Played on 4-8-18. Very nice course. Not sure what we paid as it was part of a package. Nice layout and greens rolled true. Very enjoyable course. Practice facility very nice.
Nice place to play on the way to Myrtle
The perfect place to start your golf vacation on the way to the Grand Strand. Friendly Staff, good food, and a challenging golf course.
Course is just starting to come out of dormancy and the conditions are good for this time of year.
Great place to play!1 I played here when they first opened. There was a dirt road leading up to the clubhouse parking lot. Always loved this place
Great deal.
Played a quick 9 at 3pm on a Friday. Course was in great shape and greens were true. Nobody holding us up and pace of play was solid. 2 of the holes were cart path only, but this is to be expected due to the recent rainy weather. Overall, course drains exceptionally well and has a fun layout.
27 holes of goodness!
Nice place, I will definitely be back in the spring or summer!
Challenging and Well Maintained
Always a favorite , this heavily bunkered course makes you plan each shot carefully!
Great layout
Course was in great shape including well manicured greens. Friendly staff. Challenging layout but not intimidating for high handicappers. Can't wait to play it again as soon as I can. Highly recommend MG.
Great course
Azalea/Magnolia was a fun but challenging 18 holes. The course was in great shape too.
It was our first time here and since we weren't told where to go after checking in at the pro shop it was a bit confusing where we were to go to get a golf cart.
The Starter was very helpful, answering all our questions and got us going in the right direction towards Azalea 1.
Worth thre drive from MB
It's 1 hr ride from North Myrtle Beach but its worth it. It's a great value for the green fees paid... Will definitely return.
Good experience
Played as a twosome in 3.5 hours. Great condition, no 2 holes alike. Friendly staff.
will def return when dried out
played after a few days of heavy rain - CPO was not an issue for me, but even the best courses can only handle soo much rain...nice layout and good feel to me.
First Time Carolina Golf
We stayed close to this course and played two days so we go to see all three nines, and this review will cover all of them.
Magnolia- decent layout, but a bit on the short side for a championship course. 8th par 3 is kind of funny as if the pin is on the left you can't see that half of the green so you must draw it around the trees.
Camelia- This 9 has the most teeth and has the most length and forced carries. Several par 4s in the 430 range.
Azelea- This seems to be the newest 9 with holes that border plots and shots on doglegs that have to go through people's back yards. Accuracy is key, but very short.
All of these courses have the same quality of grasses and management. There isn't really rough out here, given the wiry grasses, maybe that is a NC thing? The rough is just longer than the fairway, but every lie is a flier as the grass doesn't fall over itself like the Ohio courses I'm used to. Lots of sand and water, but the water is either right in front of the tee or far out of play except on one or two holes.
The humidity seemed to decrease ball flight so I did not play the tips, but it proved for an enjoyable vacation round at about 6400 yards from the next set up. I think it's under 6000 from the traditional white tees. The staff all around is fantastic and helpful as it can be tough to navigate around. Impossible to walk even though totally flat due to distance between holes.
Quick note: They do not have a proper halfway house, and everything from the restaurant is made to order, other than a bag of chips or candy bar. The food is good and affordable, but we needed to stop at the turn for a sit down lunch. They do understand this and there was no push to get back out for the 2nd nine. They also have numerous beverage carts out on the course. It was very well run.
Excellent place to play and practice....
Have played here before and have always enjoyed it and have made it a must stop when I'm visiting. 27 holes with a very nice range and practice area.
This trip we played Magnolia and Camelia. Both very nice layouts with Camelia having quite a bit of water in play.
They recently punched the greens so they were on the bumpy side so I took a star away.
One thing, and it's a big one in the summer, is they have no drinking water on the course. They do have a fountain at the restrooms but that's it. They should have coolers out so you can get water when you need it. I DO NOT LIKE this policy.
Other than that it's one of my favorites in the area.
The course was in great shape. Good layout.
Unfortunately storm came in and only got to play 14 holes. Will play again.
Would recommend this course.
Day out
Greens, fairways and tee boxes in great shape. Interesting layout with challenge for all. Different tees offer variety of distances for everyone.
Better than I expected
Lots of forced carries as many holes are bordered by water hazards. Greens were in fair better shaped than I expected; ball rolled pretty much true and many greens were challenging reads. A fair number of narrow fairways so deciding how to play your slice or hook will always be on your mind...lol.
