Getting to love this course
This is the third time playing Old Union and as I start to get the lay of the course I’m finding it really enjoyable. Great layout with several teeing options for all handicap golfers. First time the pace of play was a little bit of an issue but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment and we will definitely make this course a regular stop 8n our local rotation.
Good Playing Day
Love this golf course. Has some challenging holes ,, IF you know the hole you can better hit your spot. Has some"forgiving" holes - would of given a higher start rating for course condition, but about 7 greens are "scorched" BUT....not bad to putt over the spots.
We WILL go on the Wednesday seniors deal of $22 !
Well worth it !
Note: there needs to be some trash cans on the front nine !
The greens were some of the worst I've played. I've never played on greens that had so many ball marks in need of repair not to mention the scuff marks & bald spots. Course layout is nice but the course as a whole needs a bit of TLC.
greens unplayable in this condition. they were scalped in many places ball marks not fixed by many golfers and/or the staff. Very rough did not even try to putt on four greens
The course was very well kept and beautiful
We were pleasantly surprised to find this course. Everything was very well groomed and the cart paths were wide and smoothe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The club offered everything we needed. The course was challenging but fun. We look forward to returning.

Better than I expected
While not up to the condition of 8 years ago--I was surprised it wasn't too bad. Fairways were good, rough was a little too high and greens were spotty as if some fungus had gotten into them--but were still puttable.
It looks like they are addressing the issues--I would play it again--good value.
Don’t waste your money
This was at one time a good track. It has gone down in condition. Although the fairway were decent, the rough had not been cut in at least two weeks and had weeds a plenty. The sand traps had lost so much sand that gravel was coming up. I chose not to play out of many of them because I didn’t want to bugger up my sand wedge. The greens were the worst. I’d say don’t waste your money. There are other great courses in the area.
Funny - I played there on Monday, July 15 and the fairways and roughcwere being mowed that day - so much for not being mowed in at least 2 weeks. If the guy stayed in the fairways instead of the clover/rough maybe his/her complaints would not be so vehement. And the complaint about the greens is waaayyyyy off.
This course is not expensive to play - $30-$37 for 18 holes, including cart. So, yeah, you can play better courses in the area, but you will pay twice as much, and if you spend your time in the rough and sand as this complainer, er, commenter seemingly did, why? True, this course is not in great condition overall, it needs "weed be gone" in a major way, but from where it was when Mr. Griffith owned it after the developer went belly up and did not pay him for the design and build, it is in much better condition since Griffith sold it 3 years ago.
Beautiful scenery - Great Course!
Friends and I frequently play here due to the quality of the fairways and greens, the serenity and the value. Not overpriced like Brasstown and less mountainous than Butternut Creek. Staff is friendly. Good practice area. The golf carts are worn out but I'll live with that given the other strengths.
Yes it’s the week of July 4th. But the course was ridiculously overcrowded. No starter and minimal staff. Course had so much clover we spent lots of time dodging bees. Layout is difficult and way to many sand traps next to greens. We did not enjoy this course and left after 9 holes.
Course was in perfect condition. Greens were bent grass and really nice. Fairways were cut pretty well considering in rained hard the night before
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Course was in great shape and the layout was very nice and challenging enough to make you think about where to place your shots
Greens were very nice, weather was terrible due to lots of rain. Will play course again when in area
Greens in very good shape.
Fairways well maintained.
Area around greens and bunkers are not well maintained.
Interesting layout but some gimmicky holes.
Good value for the money
The fairways we a bit thin for this time of year: also, noticed patches of weeds beginning to encroach on the fairways as well. The bunkers we not raked and rather hard packed, yet manageable to play out of. The greens, unusually slow were in beautiful condition and rolled true.
Nice track. Greens were decent but very slow! Tee boxes were terrible, fairways were on the rough side but after all the rain that is somewhat understandable. Golf carts need GPS first time players as we were could not tell the distance to the hazards. The gentleman in the clubhouse was very nice and gave us a book describing the holes but it did not provide us distances from the Tee box to the hazards which in turn slowed down our play and made it less fun.
It is still early in the season. The course was in good shape considering the time of year. The fairways were still brown and very thin, the rough was equally thin and patchy. The greens were recently plugged and top dressed, putting was challenging at best. With a few weeks of warm sunshine, Old Union will be back to its beautiful condition!!
