Fun round of golf!
I had a great time playing this fun little track! The course was in great shape! Greens were very smooth and putted true. Course is short but tight! If you don’t hit it straight you better bring extra balls because just off most fairways are natural areas that have thick and deep vegetation. Only had to wait a few times. Would definitely play again!
Nice course
The course was in great condition. Greens are fast and smooth.
Too expensive
A fun course to play, with many challenging hole. Too expensive.
Overpriced
Don’t try using your gps golf watch on this beautiful golf course. Since it’s renovation following Hurricane Harvey, the course has been reduced from 18 holes to “9 + 3”. The information hasn’t updated. The 2341 yard (longest tees) 9 hole course is challenging, but overpriced. The course has a great practice area and restaurant/bar. The staff do a great job and the course is in great condition. I think that it is too expensive, but it is worth playing at least once.
Overpriced But Fun
Fun course, if you are just looking for something to do for a bit. Glorified par 3 course. All the holes are very short. If you drive it in the fairway, wedges to soft/easy greens are the norm. Plenty fun to play. But only a 9 hole course and in NO WAY is it worth $75-80. Especially to be making two loops.
Red McCombs is on to something
Great little links course reminiscent of a miniture verision of the New Course in St. Andrews. Little over watered, tight landing areas and greens made for a challenging but fun round. Staff was friendly except for Holly, who insisted I play alone, my partner had to drop out and she refused to let me join another group or share my tee time. Even the Pro on duty was surprised I was sent out alone. Fortunately, I waived up the group behind me and we had a very pleasant round! Without Holly, it's a five star experience!
First post-hurricane round
The last time I played this course was obviously prior to Hurricane Harvey in 2017. I really enjoyed the 18 holes before and learned today that the front nine was decimated by the hurricane and will not be replaced. This was a bit of a disappointment to me, but we played the nines twice and even took advantage of the small par 3 course that is also attached to the course. Definitely we got our money's worth, but I was just a little disappointed because of them loss of the front 9.
A nice resort town golf course.
This is the first time I played Palmilla Beach golf course since before Hurricane Harvey. It was a bit disappointing when I heard they converted the format links style 18 hole course to a 9 hole resort course. However I wanted to give it a try.
I wasn’t disappointed. The practice area was in good shape. The course was in excellent shape and the greens were just fine. The only downside was the heat, and the course management kept plenty of iced water bottles. (The iced mango towels they used to provide when it was Newport Dunes were great, and they were missed today).
The pace of play was fine. We played 18 holes (9 twice) and made the turn right on schedule. We got done in just under 4 hours and the course was busy.
The patio bar and grill were ideal following such a hot day.
Worth Every Penny
This place was amazing and course was in great shape! Couldn’t have asked for a better morning and played with some great locals! 19th hole at Red’s was a great place to end the day!
Great Course
Great course overall. Was a little disappointed about how expensive it was for it only being a 9 hole course. It was great that the driving range was included and it wasn’t very crowded. I was looking forward to playing on my own but unfortunately the staff sent the tee-time behind me ahead with me for some reason. Course was beautiful and challenging to play, just wished it was a 18 hole course.
9holes
Fun a sore at challenging on a few 400 plus par 4’s.
Par 32
This course has only nine holes and with that, four of the holes are par 3s with no par 5s in the layout. The course is in great condition tough and the staff is so accommodating. I had a good time!
Palmilla in the wind
Course is in great condition. Fairways are great. Greens are great, roll true. They have a couple that need a little help with brown spots but still great. Course layout is great with the wind basically coming across on six holes. Two holes into the wind and one down wind typically. Very challenging despite short overall yardage. Worth playing.
Beautiful course, fantastic greens. Could have used a course map with scorecard showing aerial view of holes since there were a good amount of blindish tee shots that were difficult to judge without prior experience of where the fairway was
course is in great shape. that’s the only good part
if you enjoy being stuck behind retiree hackers or jerks that wait for green to clear because they think they can drive the green from 300+ yards out then steer clear
Palmilla
Nice course. Too windy. No protection My wife and I both have a GPS. Her's found the course, mine did not. First time ever for that.
