The Chimneys Golf Course
About
The Chimneys Golf Course features 18 holes of exceptional golf. Our signature feature is the abundance of native rock found on-site, intricately hand-laid throughout the course to accent our greens, fairways, and pedestal tees. With strict attention to detail and no homes in sight, the course plays as a par 72, just shy of 6500 yards over five sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Combined with southern, hometown charm, The Chimneys is an experience unlike any public course in north Georgia.

Nice day & round
Outside of the greens being aerated recently the course was in great condition!
Don't try to pair up at the course
I was a single and my original tee time was 1:10, at 1:11 the three younger guys I was supposed to play with showed up. When I asked if they were 1:10 they said no we are 1:00 and we are late...they hit and quickly moved on...I then had to wait 30 more minutes to find another group with an opening and they were great to play with. I was at the driving range when the young guys were there and over heard then saying "even if the person is cool but they suck at golf it's just no fun" I shoot mid 80s but guess that's not good enough to play with employees at this club.
Greens just punched
Rarely write reviews but I saw no comments mentioning the greens had just been punched and sanded. They rolled pretty good still considering they looked like they had been punched that day or the day before. Course will be awesome in a few weeks but I’d wait a little bit before I pay 50 bucks or more.
Thank you for your feedback. We performed a "vertidrain" procedure yesterday which is a solid-tine with light dusting of sand. We understand that you were not informed of this procedure and would like to speak to you directly regarding your experience. Please email info@chimneysgc.com at your earliest convenience as we are not provided your email address directly via GolfNow. Thank you!
Awesome experience
The course is in great shape, staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely my favorite place to play.
Loved the course
First time here, but will be back. Really enjoyed the layout and it is in great condition. Bring a pack of crackers. You can’t even get a hotdog in the clubhouse. But other than that, it was great
Good course but very pricey
Chimneys is a fun course I've played many times, but since they raised the rates in 2020, they have never come back down. The course is fun and in great shape, but paying $70 on a Monday, was not fun. This is a $40-$50 course, but the prices they are charging are way higher than expected. I will be shopping around for my next round of golf.
Nice course
Pricing is a bit high for the area, course is well maintained
Book early and you can easily get rates in the $40-$50 range! We offer a 30-day booking window. The earlier you book, the lower the rate!
Confusing pricing
Chimneys is now using "dynamic pricing " that changes depending on when you check in. Even if you have booked earlier, and have a quoted price, they may still change the amount charged. It is very unfair to change the price after booking.
The course was a good value at $45 - $50, but it is certainly not worth $60. Mid week or $90. On a weekend.
My prior comment about dynamic pricing was incorrect. The problem was with the way that we were booking the advanced tee times by not using "public" for the guest players.
We absolutely do NOT change pricing after booking. Please help us to understand how you thought this happened for you specifically by emailing info@chimneysgc.com. Once a tee time is booked, the rate is LOCKED.
Weekend Inflated Costs
Play this course fairly often, normally during the week. Played on a Friday and the inflated golf prices were shocking! A normal Senior rate during the week is <$50 and to find it approaching $85 on Friday was disappointing. Taking advantage of the working folk that only have a weekend to play. It is a nice course, but not a $85 course as there is nothing outside of the course but snacks and some drinks.
We hope you enjoyed your round and understand you are looking for discounted golf. Did you know you can get rates this time of year though for as little as $34.65 on the WEEKEND? We offer our own red-flame specials on our website at chimneysgc.com for up to 30% off, even on weekends. Red-flame specials are listed daily. As an example, since I saw you booked in February on a Saturday, we have an existing tee time available at 1:50pm for 5/20 that would equate to $36.75 per golfer. As another example, even without the pre-paid red-flame offers, we have a 12pm tee time available for only $53.50 per golfer on 5/20. Looking for a morning time? We have one currently available for $57.50 on Saturday, 5/27.
As always, seniors receive a 10% discount Monday-Thursday as well. We hope to see you again soon.
Thanks,
The Chimneys
Too pricey
This is. A nice course but not worth the $50+ dollars during the week. They raised prices during Covid and never reduced.. Our group has started looking for alternatives like Providence, Lane Creek, Chicopee and others that are cheaper.
90 dollars for a weekday tee time?!
Great course. Not for a 90 dollars worth. That’s ridiculous for a weekend round, let alone a weekday…. Go save your money and play somewhere else for a better price.
We noticed your recent review of the Chimneys so we wanted to reach out personally to help. We saw that your last tee time with us (at least booked under your name) was from February. Our rates have increased since then, as all courses, due to the time of year. Spring is certainly busy.

The key is to book as early as possible. We offer a 30-day booking window which is much more generous than most courses. The earlier you book, the lower the rate! Most golfers wait until only a couple days out to book and we are often nearly sold out by then which is why you may have found our rates higher than what we've mentioned.
Please consider altering your review of the course. We would love to welcome you back for a round of golf at one of these options.
Sincerely - The Chimneys
Very Good Course in Rural Setting
Had a great day.. in the area for business and had the day off. Glad I found this course through golf now. Little disappointed there wasn’t a “grill” to grab a bit afterwards, but understandable being course is a bit out in the country. Bev cart person was always near by and clubhouse staff very friendly. Thank you..
Green Fees are too High
The course is growing into really nice shape. I fail to understand the recently elevated green fees. Our group plays twice per week so we are exploring other courses in the area. While we enjoy the course and the very friendly staff this course in not worth $55 - $80 for a WEEKDAY !!!
Absolutely insane that they’re charging as much as they’re charging. It’s supposed to be a city course but it costs more than most of the really nice clubs in the area. It’s well-kept but $90 is ridiculous, especially for the five-plus hour rounds you get here
Country side Country Club
One of the cooler munis I have played in recent years with two totally different 9s to make up a challenging course. Anyone from north of 285 to Athens would enjoy a nice 18 there.
Not a long course but fun and terrific condition.
Great little track at the foothills of the Appalachians. Greens are always great. The Blues are the longest 6K yards I've ever played.
My only concern is there often seem to be players that drop in on hole 10 and slow play. Not terribly but annoying nonetheless.
Greens still recovering from aeration.
Like course. Senior friendly. Greens need to heal more from aeration 3+ weeks ago. More sand and water necessary?
$100+?????
Management must have lost their minds. It’s a fun little rural course. Better option than the Pines in Winder, but anything over $50 is a stretch. Y’all come to Gainesville and play much better courses that never charge over $65 for a round.
Where I do appreciate the response, two of the 3 I was paired up work there. A friend of mine and I played with them once before and I've seen them both a number of times around.
We understand that you had a difficult time pairing up at the course and apologize for any inconvenience you may have faced. As a single, there are times when a group you may end up paired with is less than willing to pair up. While we do what we can to facilitate this process, it clearly affected your experience on Friday afternoon. We surveyed our team and are unsure who you may have spoken to regarding skill level but that is obviously not a requirement of our facility. We accommodate golfers of all levels and strive to be welcoming to all. We hope you will please reconsider your rating as we strive for excellent service and hope you will not let a poor guest-to-guest interaction affect your view of the Chimneys. Thank you.
