Worst Course Ever
This might be the worst course I’ve played in my life, but definitely as bad as I’ve seen in the past 30 years. There are power lines everywhere, sewage pipes all along the course, set me tee boxes are so bad they just have mats. The greens were being aerified with enough sand to start your own island. I’m not sure if it’s even worth the effort. Sand traps are all across the board, some no sand, some tons of sand and there isn’t a rake in any. The Marshall is about as unpleasant as you could ask for and never left the first tee, so pace of play is 5 hours for an executive course. If you don’t care about course conditions, have all day to play, like rude people and want a super short course then play here. Otherwise I would avoid at all costs. I’m completely baffled by how anyone could rate this place above a 1.
Course in bad shape
I wasn't told by anyone that the greens were recently aerated, or that 3-4 of the holes were under major renovation. The "marshall" was also not friendly and quite rude. It has been a LONG time time since I played here. I will not go back...
Shame
I played this course quite a bit back in the Blue Heron days, and i always acknowledged and respected the course for what it was. A budget public course for beginner-intermediate golfers to practice their short games. However after playing it today i probably will never play it again. Tee boxes in shambles, greens have weeds growing rampantly out of them, fairway grass is thin and basically clay in most parts. For what you get, the greens fees should be considerably lower, Chastain Park is only $18 most of the time and the course is in way better condition. Sad to see this happen, maybe i'll check back in a few years and see if anything has changed.
maintenance day
sand traps not racked after weekend play, greens being sanded as I was playing, grass being cut
Sandlot
They were dumping and spreading sand on the greens interrupting play. Worse timing ever!
Aerated greens
Freshly aerated greens. Would have been good to be notified about the green conditions.
Summer Saturday Early Afternoon
It was bit hard due to lack of rain and heat, but was well maintained. I would like to see more trash/recycle bins on the course (especially considering they right next to a recycling center). Overall, I had a great round and will be back!
a fun course to practice your irons
I love playing this course.. why?
because it allows me to practice my game using my irons and helps me with my short game
Terrible - First and Last time
Golf xourse is in poor consition and with a severe shortage of carts, our tee time was delayed ver 60 mins; staff was powerless, uselesa and unapologetic. Not willing to refund. Did bot enjoy our day here, I would not recommend this golf course to anyone
I'll never play here again
Not worth the money. You can play a muni in Atlanta for cheaper and in better condition.
Good Value and Fun Course
I saw some reviews for this course that weren't very flattering, so I feel compelled to share my opinion.
First, let's calibrate and understand that this is an executive course (mostly par 3s and 4s) and it is relatively inexpensive to play. I've seen some people give the course 1 or 2 stars. Anyone who does this has unrealistic expectations and is likely comparing it to a hooty-tooty par 72 course.
This course is fun. It's quirky and takes some getting used to (lots of blind shots), but if you accept it for what it is and appreciate the price tag, you have to give it its props. Yes, the tee boxes suck (so use a tee) ... and yes the golf carts aren't new and don't have gps (so buy a range finder or a golfapp on your phone) ... but the fairways and greens are in good shape, the pace of play (when I played) is quick, and the course is adequately challenging (for a par 3/4 course).
The range has some fancy new ball-tracker system. I didn't have time to try it, but it's pretty cool looking.
All in all, I enjoyed my round and I especially appreciated my $15 Golfnow.com hotdeal price!
