Quirky But Fun.
The course comprises mostly Par 3s, but there are a few longer holes which are quite challenging. It's a tight course and it pays to hit the ball straight. If you enjoy elevated tees holes 2, 4 and 12 are for you.
Fun Executive Course
Great course for casual players and those learning the game. The holes vary in length more than some other executive courses, calling for nearly every club in your bag. Lots of fun.
Inexpensive
I play this course because it’s close to my house and inexpensive. I wouldn’t go out of my way to play here tho. The main cart attendant has been unnecessarily rude to me on multiple occasions. The people at the front desk are typically nice though.
Steel CANYON
The course is good! It’s not a Par 3 only course, and there is a fairly long Par 5 on Hole 6. Mostly Par 3s though. I liked the elevation changes throughout the course, but it did make finding our golf balls hard at times (we’ve been playing for about 4 months). I’d consider myself to be a decent golf player and actually played well. The only thing that bugs me about this course is the one thing that I believe makes it unique - the elevation changes. We lost so many golf balls when we played. Granted there’s not a lot of water, but we lost a lot in the brushes and woods and just around the course in general where we couldn’t find out ball. My frustration could also have been exacerbated by the fact that it was 30 degrees outside and snow flurries were in our face the whole time. I’ll write another review if we ever play in the spring/summer.
Always a challenge
This is a links style course that always keeps me on my toes. The greens are quick for the winter. Great course for dialing in those new irons
First time
I just moved here from Pennsylvania. It was my first time. It was wet and I wasn’t accustomed to the grass but I love the course layout, especially the elevation changes. I was able to hit into some of the banks and roll on to the green. My irons got a nice workout. Will play again soon. I’m sure this is a very different course mid summer.
Steel Canyon
Course is short but extreme altitude changes and sloping fairways. Lots of impossible brush off the fairways where you will never find your ball. Main problem is course is wet even though no rain for days.
No food, not even hot dogs and hamburgers,. a few snacks, no cart girl. I played with some very nice young men and hit the ball pretty well today so still had a good time. Pin positions were difficult today I had five three-putts which is very abnormal for me.
Funky layout
Weird layout even for a short course. Greens were horrible. Starter was snarky
You get what you pay for!
The course is not in bad shape, the main issue is the tee boxes on several holes are mats or they are in terrible shape. The course layout is very interesting with the different elevations and after finding out this was formerly a dump it all makes sense, especially with the huge power lines always being in your view. The putting practice green is good but the driving range is all worn out mats and many of the ball holders are broken. The pace of play was very backed up and getting a cart took 10-15 minutes to wait. They have a nice marshal who thankfully can keep you entertained while you wait for a cart. For 25-35 dollars a round I guess this is what you should expect to experience.
