Reviews
great value here
i play this course frequently. Its the best course in the area and the price is great. You can take advantage of the par 5s and shoot some great scores. Not too hard. not too easy. Greens are always in great condition.
Well Worth the Price of Admission
This course is beautiful and challenging. Think North Shore at a third of the cost. The only complaint I had was that it took the entire round to get the speed of the greens dialed in. 3 and 4 putting ruined an otherwise pretty good score card. The greens are fast, very fast and the contours leave many putts that you just can't get to stop. Also, you can't get approach shots to bite. Everything had to be left short or on the downhill side. We played nine more after our first 18 and I had a respectable score. The practice green does not prepare you for these greens. I will play this course many times in the future because it is a great value for the money and it's quite challenging. The staff was fantastic and brought us a cart out of the blue on 14 when we started having trouble with ours.
The course was beautiful and so easy to follow
Course and staff were wonderful. This is only my first year of golfing and enjoyed my outing with my husband
Good Value
The course was in good condition and was not crowded. Pace of play was very good. Not a great design, but very playable.
Very well kept and very enjoyable to play
The course was in wonderful shape. Greens where well kept. Tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Had a wonderful day and a great round.
Nice Course!! Fairways are wide and rolling bunker and hills.
Very nice course! We enjoyed playing there. The only drawback was the ride to and from the course, we live in Wilmington which is one hour away. The green are very good and they run specials for senior each week. If I lived closer, I would become a member.
Forgiving but fun
My wife and I played and enjoyed the day. Course is not long and relatively forgiving. Conditions were really good. Greens rolled true.
If you like wide fairways, wide landing areas, you will like this course
If you like wide fairways, wide landing areas, you will like this course. The course was in great condition. Lots of fun to play. Must play for the area.
Great course
Bear Trial is in the middle of nowhere and hard to find. Once We found the course I was surprised at we found. The conditions were awesome! If you like to have a perfect lie on every shot then you need to play this course. We played on Friday afternoon about 3, I think we were the only golfers there. The design of course was cookie cutter links course, although after the first 4 or 5 holes the course becomes more pleasing to the eyes.
Awesome Value...Great Course
Perfectly maintained, great layout, great scoring holes but still challenging. Could use a few more greenside bunkers...and the rough could be a little deeper, but lots of water in play. Loved how almost every hole is in the forest. Really quiet and peaceful. Great experience...especially compared to other courses in the area. Highly recomend!
Great course conditions and a real bargain.
Course WAIS in excellent condition and the best value I have gotten in quite some time.
Good Course not that far from the beach
Bear trail has some great par 5 and Challenging Par 3... Course was actually in a good shape for the amount of rain over the last couple of weeks... Driving Range available...pace of play was good, I think the weather scared people off but didn't rain once while I was there. Greens rolled well although they were air rated
Great Course
Grounds crew were punching greens on back 9. So we had to play front 9 twice. Kind of wish we would have known before we bought tee time and drove that far (40 min) but a great golf course. Directions to golf need to be a little better marked. We saw no signs to course on the way there.
Pleasant Surprise
My wife and I enjoyed our round at Bear Trail, it was a beautiful day and the course was in very good condition considering the rain that had fallen the previous day. The course is a beautiful design with challenging greens. Lots of sand and water but the fairways are generous and the greens were holding shots. We definitely recommend giving this course a try.
Best course for the money
Bear trail golf course was one of the best golf courses that I have ever played. It was maintained extremely well and was very scenic. I will definitely be playing this course again.
Worth the 40 mile drive!
It was a beautiful day, a nice country drive, to a very nice course. I would definitely play the course again AND recommend it to others. My only negative would be the Marshall on duty who rushed up to us, didn't say hello or welcome, or hope you enjoy the round.......just 90 degree rule, don't drive past the white posts, and don't take the cart into the wooded areas.....grrrrrrrrr. We listened to grumpy, smiled, waved, laughed quietly, and went on to have a great round!
First time at this course.
This is the first time at this course. It was recommended to me by a friend that plays there regularly. My dad was in town and we played there and had a great time. The course is set up like a professional course should be. (Range markers, tee boxes, ect.) The course is a little long for the short drive hitter. They obviously put the time in to build a good cours and then build a fancy club house later after the membership grows.GOOD JOB.
