I almost didn't play this course due to prior rating of unfriendly staff and course conditions...wow...what a mistake that would have been! I was greeted by pro shop gentlemen who was extremely friendly, gave me a course book, and pointed out the water hazards and how to get around course since I started on #10. Course in good shape with a few fairways and greens needing some growth spurts, but overall, greens were true and fairways very good. I was travelling on business and would play again if in town! If you are used to playing PGA tour courses this may not be your cup of tee, but if you are like most golfers, this is a challenging and inviting course...go play it!
Very nice layout
I always enjoy playing this course (3-4 times a year) but I rarely find the bunkers in good shape. They don't drain well after a rain event. Other than the bunkers, the course is in great shape.
Will return!
Course was wide open, good chance to play your ball way out of the fairway. Greens in great shape and fairly large. Lots of water and natural hazards, but very enjoyable! Will play there again!
Nice Layout
This course has come a long way with a new club house with rest rooms. The old pro shop is now a pool. The sand traps need some attention but other then that, the greens & fairways were plush.
Hidden Gem
This is a wonderful layout and fun course to play. The staff is friendly and helpful. Driving range is excellent. Lots of water but very little OB and always a bail out on one side. Good shots are rewarded and recovery from errant shots is possible. The one negative is the green speeds are slower than they look and extremely soft (mid July). This does allow from aggressiveness into greens and chips must be placed close to hole - but roll true, smooth and consistent. Fairways are excellent, staff keeps traps raked and course is manicured very nicely. Good golfers will love the layout, high handicappers may find it very challenging with all the water. Many birdie holes, some good risk/reward. One of my favorites to play while in the Beaufort area!
Finest course in a 75 mile radius bar none!
The Beaufort Club is far and above a nicer facility than anyone you will find, including most in Myrtle Beach!
Immaculate greens!!!! The best I have EVER played! The only problem I had with the place was the traps were horrendous at best, nothing but a collection for black sticky muck. Obviously I should have not been in any of them but I managed to get a close up look at three of them!
If you love a tight course go elsewhere, you can slice two fairways over and still make par no problem.
I love Beaufort Club! It is the GO TO course for anyone living or visiting the Outer Banks area !!! It's worth riding 18 without swinging a club just to see it!!!
You gotta go see AND play it!!
Worth finding
This course is not in the middle of the beach action of the central North Carolina coast but well worth finding.
A short drive from the beach and the North River community opens up to a great golf layout. Still a work in process as they "tweak" some of the fairway bunkering, the layout is in great shape with lots of challenges. Multiple tee choices allows you to see as much of the course as any golfer could want. I'm sure it will continue to improve as more homesites sell, it is obviously built as a residential golf community. Great clubhouse and amenities to grow into...
very nice
very nice course, as others have said stay out of the "sand" traps, they are nothing more than a place to store muck. with that said the course is wonderful and otherwise in good shape. plenty of chances to get into trouble but a fair test. staff was friendly, joined up with a member and had a great day. will return to play again when in the area
Challeging Water and Sand Opportunities
The title says it all it is a challenging venue of water and sand bunkers. Having just come from Myrtle Beach it was up to par with many of those courses. It appears to be a new golf community, well worth the drive.
Nice open course
Very nice course with steady pace of play. Excellent weather the day I played. Probably my best round ever. Have played here before and greens were extremely fast, no so this time. This course is forgiving on errant tee shots. The only downfall is the bunkers and sand traps which have no sand and some are just mud traps. Overall a very good course to play, just avoid the traps!
Great course
First time here. Great layout, greens wee fin but fair. Loved it. Will return and play. Best course within 30 miles
Best course in the area. A must play....
Wonderful, challenging layout. Course is always in great condition but traps need work. Don't let trap issue bother you since you shouldn't be in them anyway. Green run true and moderately fast. Staff really nice and accommodating . Beautiful new club house with restaurant to follow. I have played here every year when visiting the area and just love it. 6300 from white tees plays long .
Nice golf, missing food.
The fairways and greens were in real nice shape, but the bunkers are neglected. Fortunately I stayed out of most of them.
Teed off at 8am. I was disappointed to find the clubhouse Bar & Grill closed at the turn (9:30) so I couldn't get a snack to keep my energy up. After finishing the course, the grill was still closed.
Best course for beach golfer!
We've played this course almost every year it has been open and seen the improvements. There is no beach course close in length and care as North River Club. Greens and fairway are well kept, while sand traps need some work. Par 3's from the blue tees offer a nice challenge, with the wind being the ultimate stabilizer. Great value and we'll be back.

Best vacation course in area!
I've played this course with family every year since it has been built and it is a great track. Bermuda greens are well kept and lush. Despite the area temps, you can tell they've been maintained and kept long for the weekend golfer. The course design is challenging, yet rewards great shots.
The rough is fair, but unforgiving. The fairways reward well placed drives. The water is a good challenge and not overwhelming. The par 3's are true from the blue tees.
This year, they have added a clubhouse and restrooms on each nine (as it is part of a new development). You can tell management values the investment and good things are to come.
The sand traps need to be tended to and improved, but hopefully you'll stay out of them. Once the grill opens, I suspect this will be a favorite destination for locals as well. I can't wait to get back!
Well done guys.
Great golf on a great course
Course was in great condition, greens were in very good shape. The rough wasn't too high, but very grabby and fluffy. Course had seen some rain, so it was 90 degree on the fairways and the traps had some standing water. Always a great challenge, can't wait to play it again.
This course is always in good condition
This is a challenging course. Always in very good condition.
Great Test of Golf
We played three times from the tips and enjoyed each one. Course is quite a challenge at that length and the wind was up, along with the son. We were first off all three days and finished before the heat of the day leaving the beach for that.
Many challenging holes with great risk reward opportunities. Course was in great shape for midsummer North Carolina sun and heat and we felt a bargain for quality golf at a fair price.
Will take it on again if I ever vacation anywhere near Atlantic Beach or Emerald Isle.
North River Golf Beaufort NC
Great course just north of Beaufort. Nice layout with large greens. Got a good rate thru GolfNow. Me and my brother-in-laws really enjoyed our round. A must play when you are in the area.
Outstanding Layout!
For the price, this is a great track. Several interesting holes. The wind adds to the course complexity. Greens average speed but rolled true and you can shoot at the pins. I don't know any of the details behind this golf venue, but I hope it can make it financially. Some of the fairway sand traps are not maintained, so you wonder about the cost. Great clubhouse. Has to be the best layout in 50 miles.
