Tega Cay Golf Club - The Grande View
About
Tega Cay Golf Club is surrounded by Lake Wylie, its name even means "beautiful peninsula" in Polynesian. Despite the secluded setting, the club is only minutes from Charlotte and Rock Hill. The club is distinct for being the area's only 27-hole facility. The holes are divided into three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Grande View Course is the longest of the three nines at 3,276 yards and it is also considered the most challenging. This nine is the most popular, the finishing hole was even voted the "favorite 18th hole in the Charlotte Area" by listeners of the local radio station. As its name implies, Grande View is characterized by its stunning hilly landscape. From the golf course's elevations, the views stretch across lush meadows and wooded hills.

Challanging ayout, hard greens! Hot Deals from Golfnow, not a good idea!!
This is a challenging lay out that I enjoy. greens were hard and fast. I have booked this course twice using hote deals and now my conclusion is that avoid hote deals from golfnow for this course since it is busy and you don't know how your pairing may end up. Of course it will vary for each individual and it is my personal opinion.
Enjoyed the changes in elevation
Visiting from Florida I was looking forward to the changes in elevation on the course and was not disappointed. While the greens had recently been 'sliced & diced" putts rolled smoothly and at a fast pace. I'm looking forward to playing this course again when the greens are fully healed.
Great
Visiting from Florida where there is no shortage good golf courses, and read the reviews so I gave it a shot. If I had the time, I would be playing this course again. Absolutely a beautiful course. Very well maintained, greens are true and fast, lots of character, challenging but Fun.
Good but slow
The course has a very nice layout with a lot of elevation changes and it was in good shape.
The only bad note, for us, was the pace of play, 5 hr 10 min was way too much time for a Monday.
Fantastic
This course had beautiful tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Also the other games to play that are there are a great addition.
9 Hole Couse Rough Shape
The 9 hole course has an interesting layout and could be a fun course for different skill levels. The course was in very rough shape when we played. Further there was no rough to slow or stop the ball from shooting off the course if not hit in the center of the fairway. Some basic yardage markers would help.
Great course! Great Value
Awesome, challenging course. Lots of elevation and fast greens! New carts and a friendly staff makes it a great value!
Plenty of hills
This course is always challenging. This day, play was a bit slow. That added to the complexity of the course. After playing this course a few times, you get a better handle on how to play the holes where you can't see where the ball lands due to the terrain. Also, some of the par 3's play longer than the yardage states so add one extra club length to your choice.
Nice course, but not my favorite layout.
Course was in pretty good condition and the greens were excellent. Most were noticeably wet, but played reasonably fast and firm, putts rolled true. Would have given 5 stars, but the two nine were like being on 2 different courses. Also, not a fan of the extreme drop off of the driving range. Overall, worth the trip.
Great elevation changes, fast greens
Very enjoyable course to "think" your way around given elevation, slope, trees, sand and some water. Great layout and enough challenge to be interesting. Greens were consistent, relatively fast and took less break than expected. Course was in good condition considering lack of recent rain: plenty of fairway roll. One blind drive hole had a doofus throwing our balls back at us. He should play croquet! Loved the course.
One of the best
Played the Pines and Grandview on 5/21/15 and the course was in great condition. Greens were firm and the fairways are in great shape. I highly recommend this course and the price is fair as well.
Nice greens, great value.
I've not played many courses in NC other than Pinehurst but I found both the pines and grand view courses at Tega Day a great value. Greens were really nice for a $28 round. Driving range was mats only and you hit off a big drop so tough to gauge distance but practice green nice. I came back for a second round the next day and will play again the next time in the area.
Good fun course first time player
Very nice course well kept and very challenging great price as well will definitely play again soon!!
Great Golf Course
Tega Cay, is a crown jewel. It has two different styles on each nine. The front nine is relatively short but tight. It doesn't have many bunkers but has very undulating greens. The second nine is longer has bunkers and the fairways are a little more generous not much but a little more. The 18th hole is one of the great finishing holes in the Charlotte area. This is a must play course.
Disappointed
No yardage markers throughout the whole course. Ran into local residents of the neighborhood practicing putting on one of the holes, slowing down play and causing confusion among golfers trying to hit onto the green. Dirt patches were present on fairways throughout the course. Not pleased overall.
Bang foe the bucks
Showed up at a course without a tee time on a Saturday morning. Big gamble there and as my luck would have it a tournament. I have read some somewhat sketchy reviews about their 9 hole course "the Cove" and despite being booked solid on that nine too I managed to join a threesome. Fortunately they have played the nine before because knowing where to hit it is important. I payed $19 to ride 9 holes with a cart on a Saturday morning. That is crazy and while I will agree that the course has room for improvement it is hard to find a complaint for $19 on a Saturday! I will use this nine as a backup plan from now on!
Front nine a breeze!
The front nine really gets your hopes up! No bunkers or water, but the turn is a different story. Water right off the tee on ten and even your approch. Bunkers pop up as well and 18 is a great finishing hole with water to the green, better hit a good drive or you're laying up.
the cove-not impressed, lacked care
this I am basing this review based on nine holes only. This was a day after a monsoon of rain came to the local area. even though the course was wet, they were several fairways where they had little to no grass. not even dormant grass. Just mere bald spots. I played the COVE. I wasn't impressed with the condition. After the round, I was able to take a peek at the remaining 18 holes. This part of the course seemed more maintained And was in much better shape. I will return to check out the other 18 holes and will submit another review. Beware if you pay for 9 holes, you will get the worst shaped course of the 3 courses.
The Cove
I played on a Saturday later in the afternoon. There was a guy blairig ACDC heckling golfers.
The coarse was in terrible shape.
It was a cow patch never going back.
Tega Cay SC
The course was in very good condition. We played on a Monday and the round was not rushed, although the tee times were booked throughout the day.
All the personnel were all very helpful and courteous.
