Could have been great

The course and staff were amazing; however, without a Marshall or starter the pace of play was awful. A twosome jumped in front of us to join a foursome. A couple of twosomes behind us gave up after 10 holes. It was a lot of hurry up and wait. The round took 5 hours to complete. Ridiculous for a course in great conditions and amazing layout. The young lady in the clubhouse was awesome and friendly. It started at great with her and went down from there. With those simple course corrections I would gladly go again and invite others.

Not worth the money

The greens are incredibly fast and challenging. They repel even good shots. Mid to high handicappers will not have fun out here, as your misses will be exaggerated and you'll spend five hours in misery. The layout itself is just bland. I liked the old Seminole layout better honestly. Beyond the golf course, the Renegade Grill is really lacking competent staff. I think it took about 45 minutes to get food once we actually were able to order. And there was no one in the place at 2:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, so it's not like they were busy. There are just so many other options for golf that Seminole Legacy is not even something I consider playing unless someone dragged me out here, which I'm not too worried about it happening anytime soon.

Overpriced for such an average layout.

Course is now private, but you can play it as a member of the public for a scorching rate of $125. Let me just say, this course is NOT WORTH $125. I would play it again, but for no more than $50. The greens are fast and tricky. The course is in perfect condition, but it was always in great shape, even when it was public. The holes are all decent, but none really have any character. It just isn't a memorable course. I was really expecting a lot more from Mr. Nicklaus and the re-design. I left feeling disappointed in the new layout, and frankly, ripped off.

Love the new track! Pricey, but a great layout.

I finally got out to the new course this past weekend. We're considering getting a membership and decided to get a round in first as a test run (we're being allowed to put the greens fees towards our initiation fee which is a plus).

The course was in great shape and the layout fantastic. Having put many rounds in on the old Don Veller I found myself spending a lot of time just taking in how the course had changed. This actually got me sideways on a B9 hole, but that's my fault.

Many holes were developed using parts and pieces of other holes, some more than others, so there's some familiarity in many holes. Others are brand new like the short P4 8th hole with water than runs up the right side nearly the entire hole. I stayed dry but drove through the hole making for a tricky chip coming back.

The biggest change is to the greens. They went from pedestrian to complex and in some cases, turbo-charged in terms of difficultly. Multiple tiers, false fronts and drop-offs, well-designed bunkers...the greens roll pure but getting on them was a challenge.

The bunkers looked soft and fluffy but played gooey. Could have been, and likely was, my poor sand play but the sand seemed inconsistent. All-in-all, a great challenge, we breezed through the round, and loved all the new features. Check it out when you get a chance.

A well worn course, spotty conditions and slow play abound

The course is connected to Florida State. It's not their official "home course' but it's where the players practice and hang out. The course is an older design -- traditional parkland golf. There are 5 tees boxes ranging from a slope of 114 to 129. There is always a lot of people playing so rounds can easily stretch into 5 hours.

Most holes are pretty straight and the fairways are tight but the course is fairly wide open and the rough is cut low so a missed fairway is not too much of a problem. Prices are reasonable and the round will be fun but not something to write home about.

Seminole is Closing 7/31/18

I work five minutes from here, and this is now all the buzz in town, as FSU is closing this course on 7/31/18 and blowing it up, to let Jack Nicklaus come in and redesign the course for all of the spoiled college golfers that play at FSU. This is easily the most heavily played public golf course in Tallahassee, and now that it is closing I am strongly considering a membership to a private course in town, as the other two (18 hole) public courses (Summerbrooke and Hilaman) will become overflowing with everyone who was playing here. I'd give a mention to Southwood, but no one will play that course any more then they already do, due to the greens fees being way too expensive for what this town will pay to play golf. It's a shame to see Seminole close, because the greens are as advertised - the best in town. But I guess progress demands that FSU upgrade their course, so as to attract top talent as they have before, in the likes of Brooks Koepka and Daniel Berger, just to name a few. Farewell Seminole!

Perfect Condition. SLOW pace of play.

Seminole is in perfect condition right now. However, they continue to have the slowest pace of play of any course I have ever seen. No one knows how to play ready golf, and no one lets you play through. I have never once seen a marshal at this place, and golly do they need one. We were behind a group of young female golfers for the last few holes, and they were more concerned with taking selfies and talking than they were with actually playing golf.

A fun course and in good shape

Always a good course for the money and always in good shape but...... they really need a ranger and and a starter, a lot of 5 somes on the course slowing down the pace. Seems to have become an issue recently and the college kids are gone for the summer.

Awful

Pace of play was awesome. No ranger. Will not play again on weekend. Group in front of us literally flipped a golf cart. All sorts of weirdness.

Great, underrated course

Played here for the first time in years and I was surprised at how much better it was than I remember. Greens were rolling super fast and conditions were great. I played at Southwood the other day and I can honestly say I enjoyed Seminole much more

Don’t play on Monday

I don’t know what others saw in this course. Greens were nice, sand was nice, and layout is nice. Everything else is marginal. Every Monday there is a group that has a shotgun outing. Pace of play was very poor. I think one of the guys said they play one other day. I got the hot deal at $30. Per player, it later became available at $14. Tee times on golf now could not have been accurate as the shotgun took up 9 times before us yet golf now indicated they were available. Goal of the course according to the mission statement was to be the best in Tallahassee, great goal but a very long way from achieving the goal.
