Golf Visitors Paradise in Chicago!
My golf buddy’s short visit to Chicago for the first time. Great place to include golfing on a short trip to Chicago! Excellent course condition & layout!
Angry Little Man Starter
Have played this course for years, always slow and a tad expensive for what it is, but it’s in the city and usually relaxing and you know what you’re in for, so hard to complain.
Until this past weekend. I won’t go into the details, but had the absolute rudest starter I have ever witnessed, yelling in peoples faces, shaking a finger in their face, boiling mad, absolutely insane. You would have thought he was a small child being put in timeout for the first time. Insane
Don't go
This course has hostile and aggressive staff and patrons to anyone who doesn't shoot from the blue tees and walk. If you don't want people to use the yellow tees, why have them? 3rd time having issues here. I will never be back. Staff yells at you for "coaching" when you're giving someone a pointer on their footwork, but has no problem with people who take 5 minutes practicing before every single shot. The course is a joke. Terrible condition. The only god thing about this place is it's central location.
Great course. You can't beat the sun coming out of the lake. Some tee-boxes really need attention.
Starters
The starters needs to pay more attention to having singles join up when available.
Needs Better Accommodations
Played Marovitz for the first time, and though I liked the course, it is lacking in basic amenities. In the men's room, signs are posted that several toilets are closed because of a falling ceiling. The clubhouse looks like it hasn't been renovated in decades. The course is always crowded, so there are people waiting at the first tee, but there are no benches for them. Zero. Can the Chicago Park District find a few benches and/or picnic tables? The greens were in good shape, and though the fairways were dry from lack of rain they were still playable. This is the busiest course in Chicago, so I would hope that the Park District can make some improvements.
Nice Course, Rude Starter
Always like playing at this course. My group was at our morning tee time on time and the starter made us walk up to the middle of the fairway to star the round, he was rude and didn’t answer our questions for why we had to do this. Hope others haven’t had a similar experience. Hopefully this was a one time thing.
The starter is extremely rude
The course is very nice, especially for the price and located beautifully right off the lake. The starter they employ, has been rude, mean, and extremely.intense any time we have played there. The guy takes his job WAY too seriously and needs to do something about his anger problems. He yells at people and is very inappropriate. Seriously, reign this guy in, he screws the whole thing up to use his words.
Solid 9 holes at the right time
Sydney is a really solid 9 hole course with some great lake views. The course plays to a fair length even though it's not the biggest piece of land. Considering how much play it gets, they do a nice job maintaining the course. Staff has always been friendly too. Be sure to go early though as pace of play gets slow pretty quickly within the day.
