A Bit of a Hot Mess right now...
Greens and bunkers in very good condition as they were just redone over this last summer.
Fairways were disappointing with a few being just plain bad.
The truncated 18th hole was disappointing. I hope that's not permanent.
Construction will be ongoing for the better part of 2 years I understand. That has made parking a nightmare. Restroom facilities are nasty porta potties at the "clubhouse" area. (a trailer.)
That said, I like the layout and have always been treated well here. I will continue to play here now and again as usual.
Very hard course. Be sure to have an extra sleeve of balls or two. Holes 10 and 18 shortened due to irrigation issue. Parking is a challenge due to construction. Fairways okay but greens are in great shape. Overall not a bad course. Will be playing again for sure.
Construction going on.
Annoying construction. Some staff act like they're the police. Course and greens in poor shape. No trash cans and maybe 1 bathroom. Maybe when construction is complete it will be better. Kudos to the GM though. A fine gentleman.
We have played here before and where shocked to arrive to such a mess.
Thirilled, after we found parking to see the coarse itself had already been
ungraded . It was very good . People nice as always and will go back.
Got rain and lightning on the 13th hole so not happy with that but weather.
POST RENOVATION REVIEW....
Course has been closed for a few months due to upgrading the greens.
Played within the 1st week of it being reopened. The greens were OK at best. They were VERY SLOW and they didn't look how I was expecting, as the course was closed since April/May.
Sand traps were nice and fluffy.
Lots of greens have patches and the greens were very flat. Kind of disappointed (to be honest).
As for the fairways & tee boxes......they weren't touched and are a disaster. For the money Colony West wants for this course, I would look / play elsewhere. Go to Palm Beach & play Osprey or even Coral Springs down the block. LOTS of work needs to be done to bring CW back. Hopefully once the hotel is finished, they will reinvest into the fairways, greens and cart paths.
Ive played here a couple of times and its only because o the course layout. Staff are always very friendly at the course but the condition right now is pretty poor. No grass on the course, greens were running very slow and there is no care taken with the bunkers. (rocks everywhere with lips also destroyed. We havnt had much rain the last few months but the course is pretty bare.
Going to be a great course again
Can see the improvements on the greens and tee boxes glad to see that new “soon to be “ facilities blueprints
Wait on every hole.
We had to wait on every hole both on the tee box and in the fairway. 3.5 hours to play 12 holes and then quit
due to time constraints.
Worth the money
The course is not in great shape - that is the fairways have little grass and lots of weeds and dirt. The greens are good and they have done a lot of work to fix the cart paths. All in all, this course is worth the reduced cost they charge and I like the people who work there and the course layout itself.
Fun to play
Good value, fun to play, conditions were ok for cost to play there.
Slow as a Turtle
The course was in very good shape and the greens need another month or so to be excellent. However, the pace of play was the slowest I have seen in a long time. Singles all over the place not matched up and no one to assist. Where are your rangers!
The pace of play was very slow. It took me almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. I left after the 9 holes. No one was paired up. I had a father and his 7 year kid in front of me and he was waiting on a foursome to play ahead of him. C'mon common sense. Put us in front of the foursome. Never got to see the back 9.
Great rate for a very challenging course. This course is a must play.
It was a 5 hour round. The front nine was not in very good condition with slow poor greens. The back nine was better. Too bad because it has overall a good layout especially around the greens but it needs lots of attention and course rangers before I'll play there again. Three stars max!
Thank you so much for your review! We are certainly disappointed that you had issues during your round with us. Id love to talk about this with you further.
