Tee shot on #8 par 3 Photo submitted by tmlo on 05/05/2013
Need to invest in some sprinklers
This course is in terrible shape! Bare spots with no grass all over the fairways and tee boxes. Greens are ok but around the greens also have very little grass. They need to invest in. Some sprinklers to water the course so the grass doesn’t all die!!
Nice challenge
It’s a good layout, plays long from the tips or one forward. Fairways are a little pocky but tee boxes and greens are well manicured for a course that only charges what it charges. Clubhouse food and staff is very enjoyable.
Good Not Great but Just Ok
I’ve been led to believe you can’t always trust the reviews on GN for better or worse. I’ve played courses with bad reviews and they turned out to be fantastic and vice versa.
Colony West has an amazing layout and that won’t change for as long as the course is what it is today. It will test your golf imagination and challenge you to select the right club and make the right choices through your round.
The downside of this course is the inconsistency of the course conditions and pace of play. I’ve played this course a handful of times during this season because it’s affordable and satisfies the fix us golfers need at times. The green conditions are acceptable but the pitch marks that don’t get repaired are destroying the only thing the course has going for them right now. Greens are healthy and roll true, the speed is not what other reviews are claiming. Only 1x this season that I’ve played have the greens really been running “fast”. The pace of play is horrendous. My tee time was 2:12 and finished at 6:45, which is unacceptable. Plan a 5 hour round when you play here, esp. on a weekend. I blame the lack of organization from the starter.
Nevertheless, pick your poison in south Florida, pay $100 plus for a course with mid conditions or play Colony west Champ course for no more than $60 with all things considered.
Slick greens
Friendly staff. Starter sent me out early with a twosome, course is in good shape..carts could use some sand on them to replace the divots..greens were fast and ran true...challenging track,..
Good course but boy they need a ranger!
Course was fun and in decent shape. Pace of play was horrible. Did not finish 18. Also carts do not have sand to repair divots.
