Staff
Staff was not very friendly while there. Had the starter following us a round like a stalker.
Great value for a nice course
Richmond forest may be the best kept secret in Macomb County. This course has well manicured greens and fairways and it's challenging enough even for your avid golfer.
very good condition.
Play moved along quickly.
course was in very good shape.
you can use all of your clubs on this course.
3rd time at Richmond Forrest
Course was in decent condition. Some fairways were rough in spots and one or two greens had rough spots. Staff was friendly. We didn't eat but we did have a few beers. Just typical domestics. Would be nice to see a broader selection. One negative was we had to wait about 20 minutes to start our round. Once we started it was a smooth round with very minimal waiting. It would also be nice to see a little more of a dress code.
Don't hit out of the bunkers
One of the slowest rounds I have ever played, the course was so over booked it took 3 and a half hours to get through the front nine. The bunkers are riddled with rocks ranging from the size of a golf ball to the size of my fist and a good amount of them are buried just under the sand. Very dangerous, not only for your clubs, but for your playing partners as the rocks could easily fly out and injure someone.
This course is a nice course.
This course is a nice course for the money, and challenging enough for the better than average golfer. It has a very nice putting green, and driving range. The staff is courteous and friendly. Nice location.
Accuracy and length are required.
The course is great for any golfer. The first hole is a good starter but still has a small green with water in front. After that it's all about where you land your drive. Each hole either has fairway bunkers, water or both. The par 3's are 170+ and the par 5's are challenging. Great course for under $25.
Will be back . . .
Great deal on a crisp Michigan fall day. Course was in great shape, only issue being the falling leaves, which were mostly on the back side.
fun course
good local course great shape for october greens areated.like to keep this one a secret
Great day to golf
Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and Fun to put on. Course was not long, but challenging at times. Will return next year to golf again.
Nice fairways
Greens are small but fairways are nice, No WATER AND NO CART GIRL?
Course has matured nicely
I hadn't played there in several years, and the fairways are much better than back then. Greens had been played hard, but were in pretty good shape.
Great value
Course was busy but played well. Staff was friendly and fun. I'd like it if they would have cleaned up the tee boxes a bit more. I'd visit again for sure!
I really wanted to like this course, but....
Slow pace of play absolutely killed any enjoyment from this round. It took my playing partner and I over 5 1/2 hours to play 18. After reading other reviews it seems that overbooking is a huge problem here on the weekends. I would like to revisit during the week when it is less crowded. Someone else also mentioned that the prices of the course bring out a lot of beginning players that should not be playing such a challenging course. I agree with that as well. This is not a course for beginners!!! It has a lot of hazards, there are bunkers all over the course, a lot of water on the front 9 and the back 9 is surrounded by woods.
Slow play
It took over 4 hrs for 14 holes. Left course because of wait
Course in great condition considering recent rainfall in the area.
Some standing water in a few areas, but not enough to interfere with play. Course was in great condition! Will be back to play again. Great value for the money.
great shape
course was in great shape just got stuck behind slow group
Front and Back - 2 different styles
Played Richmond Forest this past weekend with my girlfriend and it was enjoyable and frustrating all at the same time. As I would like to list these out in a pros and cons section, it would take forever.
The most notable changes I saw in the course was the difference in the front and back 9's. The front is more open, but WATER will not be your friend. The layout winds around small creeks and lakes/ponds and can test your accuracy. The back 9 gives you the sanctuary of the forest and is lined with tall trees. Miss-hits and driving through a dogleg will leave you chopping wood (kidding).
At last, the pace of play could have been managed better. I think I would enjoy walking a round here (they have a lot of specials for walkers!), it's flat and manageable.
Overall, enjoyable Sunday outing. Affordable snacks/brews, friendly staff, challenging and forgiving holes. It will leave you smiling and grinding your teeth throughout the round, but hey, it's golf!
water and dog legs
Great course. Challenging approaches that are guarded by water or trees on several of the front 9. Course was in very good shape, Back nine less challenging than the front, but still great. Excellent value.
