Crescent Oaks Country Club
About
Located just north of Tampa in Tarpon Springs, Crescent Oaks Country Club sprawls across rolling hills dotted with sparkling lakes. The narrow course has a traditional layout that was carefully carved from dense woodlands, making it a challenging test. The lakes as well as a meandering creek come into play throughout the golf course. There are also a few strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. The par-5 10th is one of the most memorable holes with an elevated green and a ridge cutting across the middle. Par is considered a good score on this tricky hole. The golf course finishes with a par-4 dogleg left that features water along the entire left side of the fairway. The green is also protected by sand on the right and water on the opposite side.

Nice course - hidden dangers
The course is scenic with a nice layout. There are a number of spots on the course with water crossing a fairway that isn't obvious from the tee box (numbers 1 and 6 that I recall - I believe there are others.) If you are wild off the tee this probably isn't a course you'd enjoy. Several shots require placement of the ball into a safe area. There are places on the course where a smart layup is called for (#6 2nd shot unless you'e a big hitter). Keep an eye out for gators, deer, turkeys and a variety of other birds -you'll probably see some or all of the above.
Will be back!
Just what I was looking for! Challenging layout and not crowded in good condition with good price/value.
Spring Training
Of the courses we have played this March (my spring training), I thought this course was in the best of shape for this time of year. The course was challenging with all the water and hazards. Many of the greens were postage stamp size. Definitely this course is worth the price.
Could be great
Just need some TLC and for someone to pay a little more attention to detail. This course could be a five star course with some minor improvements. Tea boxes had some bare spots. Also fairways needed improvement needed to be first cut around The greens the layout of the course was wonderful however, I was just a subpar course.
Crescent Oaks
We enjoyed this course. It was a fun layout. It was our first time playing there, so we wished the course had more distance markers. Luckily we played with people who knew the course.
Great features
Well kept, nice carts, long holes nice greens and tee box
Nice Course for Money
One of the better courses I've played in the area for the price. Challenging layout with a variety of hole types. Course conditions not perfect but definitely playable. No rakes available for the bunkers which seemed strange for a country club type course. For the $69 I paid, one of the best values in the Clearwater area.
Nice day
Course is in decent shape! Used to be our favorite course to play until it was sold! Looks like it is getting back in shape!
Decent Track
Have played C Oaks a lot. Recently changed ownership. He is making some good changes.
Needs:
1. Lower the rate to $40
2. Add grass to fairways on holes - 1, 4, 14, and 15.
3. Add grass to tee boxes on holes - 11, and 14
4. Stop changing the food menu and allow “sharing without an extra charge.
Greens are small but very good.
Nice track
A nice course, not overly long but plenty of challenge. A little worse for wear after a colder and wetter than normal Florida winter. Priced right, would definitely play it again.
Great course
The course itself was difficult with all the water hazards but overall it was a great course. They didn’t have a cart girl running when we were there. The only complaint I have was the pace of play was horrendous! Every hole we were backed up waiting.
Nice track for the cost.
Easy access to snack shack. Course in good shape for winter. Play was around 4 hours.
Nice course
Nice course. Greens were in good shape and fairways were fair.
Tiny greens make the course a bit gimmicky at times.
Overall a nice track but might recommend paying the extra $20-30 to get off at Fox Hollow.
Fairways need help
Fairways are bare; grass nonexistent in large swaths of the rough. Surrounds of greens are rough. They aren't spending money on the fairways, should have overseeded with rye. In fact it didn't look like they're spending much on maintaining the course looking at fairways and bunkers. Greens were grainy, slow (about 7 stimp) and contaminated with some sort of invasive grass. Since the weeds grow at different rates they let the greens stay pretty furry. bunkers need lots of help. Cart Path Only yesterday but the fairways are so dry and compacted it didn't seem necessary. I am a six handicap, and struggled with the firmness of the ground due to lack of grass. IF the price were $20 less it would be a value. As it is, not worth the money to me. EITHER a course needs good greens or good fairways/bunkers. When both are mediocre it really stands out as a poorly conditioned course. I give them a C.
Better than I remember.
Did not play here last year, mostly due to my schedule. The course was in very good shape. Fast greens. Much better than I expected.
