Great Value
Friendly welcoming staff and members. It’s not Mount Juliet but great value for money and A lot of really good homes, well maintained, and worth the 45 min trip from Dublin. We enjoyed our visit.
Good Course Good Price
Highfield is an enjoyable course. There has been a few changes to the layout of the course which can be a bit confusing. Overall an enjoyable game.
Course layout is okay, but conditions and grounds keeping were shocking
Our twilight game was ruined by the groundskeeper dumping dirty, smelly, pond water all over the greens during our game. It was 7.30pm!
Not only this, the tire tracks of the the tractor were left on the soaked greens. Unbelievable.
This is nothing more than a large pitch and putt course. We wont be returning.
Great course, great value for money.
Love this course. The more I play it the more I enjoy it. Never under pressure from other players, staff are great. Bar is small, but nice for a coffee after the game. At first layout is a bit frustrating to find the tee boxes, until you play it a few times, much like most courses I suppose.
Terrible course
Course in very bad condition, alot of holes changed and no new information. Holes changed from par 4 to par 3 and the old hole distance on hole, played here before afew times before and was lost going around the front 9 this time. Greens now on fairways and overall course gone downhill. Probably will never play again
Poor
Played here on a lovely day but the weather was about all that was good. Clubhouse is in need of a serious revamp - it looks old and rundown and doesn't have any particular charm. Course has potential but was in awful condition. The bunkers had weeds growing in them and the greens were slightly overgrown and had no smooth roll to them. Course layout and design is very strange with some holes having extremely weird dog legs and we were left feeling unsure as to what direction the hole was going in. Also, a foot golf course is present on the golf course which I felt was a bit strange but maybe I'm just a golf purist. We only paid €10 to play but there are far far better courses in the Kildare area to play for that price. Would NOT golf again.
time is key
I played this course 9 years ago and I did not think it was all that great but I was surprised as how it has matured into an interesting test. It is not a course for lads with big headed drivers and all they want to do is burst the ball into space!! You have a nice mix of short par 4's which positioning the ball is key. The par 5's are of a good length which the 1st one is a very interesting dog leg with a water Hazard on the turn. The par 3's are of modest length but are good fun to play. All in all I will certainly go play again for it's a course that has its own uniqueness. In summary, I am an 18 handicap and it suited me. For lower handicaps it may not.
Rubbish greens
Very disappointed in this golf course, a pen of hens on arrival at entrance!!! My back lawn was better than the greens!!
Magical Golf Course in Carbury
It may be short but boy is it challenging. The terrain is level but the llayout of the course is fabulous. Try to drive the 5th or the 18th hole at your peril! There is plenty of water so bring a few spare golf balls. The clubhouse, staff, food and overall ambience is second to none. Eat your heart out Laem Chabang (see pic).
Nice course if a little on the short side
The course is an interesting layout with double dog legs in places and some really nice hole over all the course played super short but that was because of the winter ties being foreword. The over all condition of the course was not great but it is winter so i expected that. But what let it down most was the lake of signs for the course holes and when you add the foot golf course into the mix it just made thing very confusing to find the holes. Also the fact that there was a few lads playing the foot golf who where shouting as they scored there hole outs. It was really not something that i was use to on a golf course and it took away from my enjoyment of the course. Staff are really helpful and i did find the holes 11 to 18 where strong and made you think about where to place your ball. I will go back again as i feel it would be a stronger test of the back tees and in better condition. Last point the club house could do with some freshening up.
Greens very good
The greens are lovely. With the roof top tee box on the 1st been a feature, it also has a tight shorter front nine that maybe suits the shorter hitter and then opens up a bit on the back nine. Considering it was November and there had been a lot of rain, the course was surprisingly dry. We all enjoyed ourselves and had some fun in the bar after where there was a great atmosphere,
give this one a miss
the greens were in poor condition, very mossy, hadn't been cut that morning; overall the course looked as if it had got very little maintenance in recent times e.g. broken signposts for tee-boxes etc. Poor value at €20 as many courses in much better condition charging less;
Avoid
Not worth the twenty euro green fee, there is much better value around. The fairways were poorly cut, the greens appeared to be just cut out of the grass that was originally they and were extremely poor. Also, the bunkers were unplayable due to there being no sand. At one point the green we were playing to was left unplayable as it had been flooded as it was being watered by a slurry spreader. The course is clearly not maintained and the same can be said for the run down log cabin style clubhouse. Not enjoyable at all and despite paying twenty euros for the day, the best part was leaving. Avoid at all costs.
Some excellent holes, Position of Tee Shots on holes 1,4,5,6,9,11,12,14,14,17 and 18 very important. Lots of mature trees and Water on some holes
Greens were excellent as were the fairways and bunkers. Good yardage markers and some very difficult pin positions over water. Course off green tees not unduly long but accuracy from tees a must. Blue course a good challenge for any golfer. Very good course for society golf as the layout is easy to follow and allows a good pace of play. Lots of trees on the course and water comes into play on holes 1,2 (at front of tee), 4,5,6,7,8,13 and 16. Water on 18 not really an issue but O.O.B. can be a problem.
long 10th very difficult
course was in excellent condition, especially the greens. Bunkers could do with a little more sand. Biggest let down for me and my 3 ball was that various tee shots required a hit of about 150 yards to reach dry land or be in play, one of our party wasn't a big hitter and was struggling to hit 120 yards and this seemed very unfair on him. The 10th hole is a 214yd par 3 with the first 150/160yds over a water hazard, this was a horrible hole, it didn't even give our strongest player a chance. Distance between some of the tee boxes was also quiet a long. I would have no problem playing their again and will do soon.
Not much to offer
First tee box off the roof is as good as it gets I'm afraid. Fairways are not cut particularly on the back 9. Greens are okay (and that's being nice!!). You should probably agree with your golf buddies on the 1st tee box not to play the bunkers as they're close to unplayable. Probably would be a nice course if they put some investment into it and started to cut the fairways. Fairway on the 12th is like hitting into a field. Don't know why it costs €20 to play here considering this is the price you'd pay for other courses of much superior quality. One to avoid I'm afraid
well worth a drive
This course was well worth a drive, it had a good variety of holes. I will play this here again.
