Nice Course
Nice course, in great shape! A little short, but did play from the white tees. Challenging enough to be fun!
Great Course for Beginners
This course is on the easier side, but features good variety and challenging shots for all skill levels. Pace of play is almost always very good, as the course doesn't seem to get overloaded with people. Conditions are usually good to very good, especially tee boxes and greens. It's a bit expensive for 9 holes + a cart, but the course is easily walkable to save a bit of money on the round.
Nice course for newcomers
This was my first round of golf in the past 20 years, so my review could be really off, but here it is.
The staff and location are great. The starter (also made sure the pace was up to par, no pun intended) was helpful. Because it was my first time, he gave me a pointer on Hole 7 (the long drive hole).
The clubhouse is nice. Their is also a driving range on site, which is beside the pitch and putting practice areas. You can practice any of your shots within a short walk.
The course itself is in excellent shape. I have played at a few different course, have visiting but not played a few other courses, and this one was in as good shape as any I have seen. One guy in our group plays weekly and he said the course was in as good shape as he has seen. The fairways are green, the rough and hazards are taken care of, and there is not any rough patches as long as you stay within the boundaries.
The layout of the course was good for me. It was enough distance but not too challenging for anyone who was new. Higher handicaps have a chance to play, not feel like shots are impossible, while lower handicaps can at least practice some shots.
This is definitely a course to play if you play a round ever few months and not feel like you are the worse golfer isn't he world.
Good conditions
Bungay is probably too easy for a lower handicapper, but for a beginner or a mid-handicapper like myself this is a good place to play a quick 9. Bungay is always in great condition and the greens are good if not a bit on the slower side. I'm here a lot for the driving range as its one of the only grass ranges in the area.
Downsides are that it's a little pricey during weekends (which include Fridays) and its cart path only so don't even bother renting a cart. Overall a decent place for a round.
BIG fairways & greens - Great place to learn the game!
Welcoming staff & good value!
First place I go when introducing someone (young or old) to the game. Course layout isn't unfairly penal, but offers enough in the way of challenges to indoctrinate those golfers just taking up the game.
The aptly designated #1 handicap hole - or toughest - is the 6th hole. This hole will provide the novice golfer with the greatest challenge from tee to green.
Given the course is just a 9-hole facility, the very presence of a driving range & practice putting green was a pleasant surprise. The size of these practice areas is more than adequate as well - another surprise!
Highly recommend(!!!) this course to anyone learning the game,... and to anyone looking to introduce someone to the game. You won't regret it!
