Worth the drive
I like the layout of the course. We mostly lucked out weatherwise, although it did rain hard for the first few holes on the back nine. The weather kept a lot of people away, so the front nine went very quickly (just over an hour). However, we caught up to people on the back nine and it played slow, which seems to be the case every time I play here (total round took a little over 3 1/2 hours). The back nine is usually slow. I am an afternoon golfer, so I know that it will probably be a little slow. The conditions were good, with the greens running pretty smooth.
Practice round
I played a practice round with a student of mine. It was so nice. Thank you. I had to change the tee time because my student had a class so he wanted to come back 30 min later. I asked in the pro shop if I could change the tee time and they had no problem.I have a really good feeling that I will get along with the staff in this golf course.
Highfields
Great course but getting a little pricey. They had punched the course so the greens were still in rough shape. Otherwise good shape for fall in New England.
Mixed feelings
Love the course and overall recommend it. Was a week out from aeration. Still a little bumpy and clearly hadn’t been mowed. US Open rough and fairways were good considering all the rain. Bunkers were hard packed due to rain
Very disappointed with either GolfNow or Highfields. Price quoted on website was $75 and course would not budge from $85 listed on course website. $10 isn’t the end of the world. Integrity is. One side failed
Great course but many greens beat up.
Played course for first time this year and very surprised many greens in bad shape and really beat up. Had to move ball more than three times so did not putt over bald spots.
Real nice course, and a quick pace. Only downside was it rained the night before and all the sand traps were either mud or still filled with water. Would like to try it again on a day when it has rained the day before to see the condition of the traps.
First time
Cart path only which was annoying. Slow moving groups in front but overall not bad. Greens and t-boxes are not in good shape
Terrible Greens
I’ve played this course many times. As a member of a different course, I decided to treat myself on a ‘better’ course - very disappointed in the quality of the greens - at least I didn’t pay full price!
Worth the hour and a half ride.
This was the first time playing Highfields and won’t be my last. The course was in great shape with the exception of some bunkers due to all the recent rain. The layout was challenging but fair. We were fortunate enough to be paired with a group that knew the course and how to best play each hole. The greens rolled at a nice speed, although there were some that could be in better shape if people repaired their marks. The views of the valley were great and the landscaping all around the course was impeccable.
Greens need work
I have always enjoyed playing this course, but the greens were in pretty bad shape this past weekend. I don't know if it's a combination of the hot, humid weather, along with a lot of rain recently, but several of the greens had some large dead spots, and a few also had a ton of little rocks on the green. Because of the rain the day before, the course was cart path only, so the pace was slow at almost 5 hours. I'll give the course some time for the greens to come back before I play here again.
Nice course, staff could be friendlier
As someone who is a decent golfer but haven’t played a huge number of courses, this is a nice course. The staff was a little stereotypical golf snobby but not enough to prevent me coming back. Kind of expensive. Keep your slice under control or you’re going to break someone’s window or kill someone’s kid. Talk about pressure. Well maintained and great layout otherwise.
