Highfields Golf & Country Club

Very nice public course that is well maintained. All playing areas were in great shape. The rough is not deep but it is thick so keep it in the fairway. There are a variety of hole layouts making them all challenging in their own way. There are some nice views of Wachusett Mt off in the distance and the surrounding area of the Blackstone Valley. Holes 1 & 10 are a little close together going in the same direction. We found ourselves over lapped with two groups on 1 while playing 10 and had to wait for them to clear before we could hit our 2nd shots. Overall I give this 4 out 5 stars.. An excellent golf course and great value.

Solid course, little bit above average but in my opinion it doesn’t match the high reviews. I drove far to come here and was underwhelmed.

I've played this course during the summer and it was still in great shape. It's a fun course and you use all your clubs.

I play Highfield regularly and always enjoy layout and course conditions. Only complaint is that cart paths only wad mandatory when course was not wet at all and its Nov 16th with limited play I'm sure.

The day before I played we got about 8 inches of torrential rain. Didn't really affect the course much. It's a beautiful and special track. One of, if not the nicest course I've played in ma. Front is harder than the back. I'll never forget the 3 wood i hit on 16 to 3 feet for
birdie... :)

Course is excellent shape except a few greens a little beat up because no one fixes ball marks. Need to change policy for singles having to share a golf cart or pay $18 additional. We played as a twosome following a slow foursome so not sure why need to share a cart on a 90+ degree day.

Other than hole 18, whose fairway in parts was still recovering from the effects of the Summer drought, the course was lush green all around and in spectacular shape on this sunny but chilly mid-November day. Definitely not your average up and down bowling alley type course. You generally see very few other fairways besides the one you are playing. Mostly generous fairways so you can hit bombs without fear. Get your scoring done on the front 9 because the back 9 gets tougher with more blind shots and more water hazards. A+ course, enjoy!

I received a call from the course regarding a frost delay. But seeing as my drive was 1:10 mins we decided to wait it out. The gent in the pro shop (Billy?) with the wild pants was courteous and professional. After a few cancellations on the earlier tee times, we were able to go out with the first group. Tough course that requires knowledge of layups. The course “turf crew” were doing their best to clean up leaves, but a slight wayward shot in the rough and you were struggling to find your ball—need to be better I guess 😂. Tavern staff was friendly. Food was hot and delicious.

Will definitely book another round here.

The course was in good shape, with the exception of the greens (They were punched, a week & a half before we played, and were not healed yet). Tee's, Fairways & rough were all in good shape for the most part (A few bad spots, here & there, but this has been a tough year)
Pace of play, was NOT good! We were stuck behind an awfully slow 4some (1 1/2 hole gap after 4 holes) Never saw a Ranger anywhere near us, to get them moving along.
Finally skipped past them on the 12th hole & had clear sailing the rest of the way.
Also really sorry to see the snack shop closed at 2:30, when we made the turn

2 greens were garbage. Played this course many times, never seen that. I used to love it, but it's becoming a very average course.

Just punched and sanded greens so no expectations there. Wait a couple weeks and they'll smooth out. Hadn't golfed here all season. I was shocked at how poor the fairways were. This place is always perfect, but they had some real issues this summer. Hopefully it all comes back next year. Staff is awesome.

I generally enjoy the layout at Highfields, although the back nine pace always slows down at the 11-14 stretch. The greens were in good shape, but the fairways and tees had some really browned out sections with very little grass.

At $55 with a cart Monday-Friday this is an excellent deal.
