Work on accuracy
Though it is short, Ranch Hills is an excellent course to work on accuracy to the green. Small greens force you to improve your iron play. Greens will hold just fine. I don't play with my driver here and I have seen my iron game improve immensely.
still a great place to kick it around
Wife and I played an evening 9 here the other day. We used to play here quite bit but hadn't for some reason in a couple of years. Glad we did, it was nice.
RH is a small quaint rural locals type course. Very friendly. Scenic, and wildlife as well as farm animals can be seen. The stream is pretty.
Yes, a couple of the tee boxes could use some updating. I agree with that. Who likes mats in July? Or ever for that matter?.
The 2 par fives are quirky 90* doglegs off the tee. If your good you can get a drive up over the trees and reach in two. I play them conservative now , with a short iron off the tee, but not years ago, but there are many boxes of my balls in those woods from those days of bravado.
A driver, or really any fairway wood, is not required here. You can get around just fine with something around 230 and down.
The greens are straight up without apt of undulation, spongy and pretty slow but nicely maintained.
It is a great place for a fun evening , a buddy and some brews or whatever. Play 9 here for a warm up to a full round at Stone Creek?
There are good golfers here and bad golfers. A good mix. The pace can be slow but usually very fast.
The owners and staff have always been very friendly and this has not changed. The covered bridge is cool. The walk up the steps on two of the tees ( #3 and 5 )is tough for us old and not athletic. There is one fairly short but steep hill to climb to the green as well ( #4) , if walking is tuff , you might want a cart. The rest of the course is pretty flat.
They seem to have neatened it up some, the trees, and rough area's much tidier than we remembered.
Now, for those teeing area's perhaps !?!
get some beers and have fun !
not a stuffy uptight place
staff is friendly and this is not a stuffy place. We were the first off in the morning and got around 9 holes in a hour and half, good bang for the buck!
Really? Rubber Mats to Tee off?
Except for the ridiculously bad rubber mats and fake grassTee-Offs (that you can't even get a tee into) the course was fairly nice (pretty). I think those really speak negatively about the course...it can't be that much of an investment to upgrade those few rubber tees. I also think the signs that say you can't fish out golf balls are absolutely out of line. There is no reason a person shouldn't be able to fish their ball out if they can reach it with a retriever pole.
We had a beautiful day for golf and there were few people there when we were there, which was nice. The grounds are pretty, nice cart paths and staff friendly.
Great valve for the money
The course is in good shape. I played late in the day. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will return to play another round.
A great value
I have played at Ranch Hills dozens of times over the past five years, and I keep coming back because of the quality maintenance of the course, and the ease of getting a tee time. I have played courses that cost twice as much and paled in comparison in regards to green condition, beauty, serenity. I consider Ranch Hills my home course. While the price for 9 holes has gone up over the past few years, booking on Golfnow makes it much more affordable for the average golfer.
nice course
had a great time playing this course. It was in good condition. will play again.
Love the Vibe This Course Has
I would recommend this course to anyone. All holes are unique, love the old bridges and charm and Milk Creek runs throughout the course.
Quirky and challenging
First time out to Ranch Hills and I was surprised by the great condition for being so wet. Not a beginners course with Mill Creek running through several holes. The mat tees do need an upgrade, but still it is what makes the course unique.
Time for an upgrade
I've played this course since I was a teenager...It's the same course. Buildings are dated, and other structures need to be reconstructed an painted.
Gorgeous weather and a great round of golf!
We're local and play all year long out here. It's a great place and we love the owners. Took advantage of the beautiful day and break from the rain to get our first golf game in of the season. Ground was a little wet still but freshly trimmed! Had a good time like always. It's such a laid back and carefree course. Perfect for those who are out there to relax. We are going on our second year playing and you can bet this is where we will be most weekends this summer!
Holding up even with all the rain
The course has held up very well considering all the rain and snow. A few extra water hazards from the rain and flooding, but overall not too bad.
A wet muddy day, so hard to criticize. Course played well for conditions
Cordial staff, course fine for weather. Green satisfactory
This course had so much sand on the greens it was useless to attempt a putt.
The staff was very rude. I felt as if I was an inconvenience the moment I walked in the door. I have been golfing for over 25 years and I have never been treated so poorly on a golf course.
We love this course.
We play Ranch Hills often. It's location makes it very quiet and its just hard enough to make it challenging and fun. Never have a problem gettng T times when we want. I would highly recommend this course.
Fun little 9 hole course!
I have golfed at Ranch Hills since I was 12. The owners are very friendly. It is on the short side but still challenging.
Friendly, down-home atmosphere
Love to play here. Wonderful setting, pace of play is walkable, and a great course to refine your skills. Couple of holes are rewarding for the risk takers (not me though :-)).
Wow for $2
I found an incredible last minute deal for a morning round at $2 for 9 holes and was blown away by this course when I got there. I haven't seen it for even close to that price at any other time. This is an interesting course with some cool challenges and different holes. Other reviews complain about the two holes with mats on the lofted tees but its part of the quirkiness of the course and didn't affect my shots at all. I definitely want to play again but had help with my shots from the other guy who booked online and knew the course. Nice conditions and fast greens. Easy walk. Well worth the drive, about 40 min from Tigard.
Is nice and open for amateur players.
The staff is very friendly, the course is alwAys in good shape and pretty open makes it nice for amateur golfers. I go there often with friends and family.
hard work by the owners pays off here, good course
this course is green and plush, there are a couple of hiccups around a couple of greens but this place is quiet, friendly, and well worth the trip.......you have to golf here in fall....its beautiful!
