Going Down Hill
It looks like this course is throwing in the towel. None of the fairways were mowed, in fact the rough was shorter than the fairways. It was literally like hitting out of the high rough every shot. The back 9 was closed due to standing water, which I understand, but at least make your front 9 playable. The greens were burnt and sandy. Stay away...this is a waste of time and money!
Stay away
I've played Sherwood once or twice a month for the past 5 years during which time It has gone from nice to horrible more than once, but now it's the worst ever! A month ago conditions were good but obviously nothing has been done since then. They seem to have just given up. It now appears that the latest owner window-dressed the course to sell housing lots and now that the development is near complete he is letting the course go to seed. Too bad because I really liked this place.
Don’t waste your money
Back nine was closed and has been closed for a while from what they say. Grass has not been cut in weeks. Balls disappear in the fairway grass is so deep. Greens are like concrete most of the grass is gone. Tee boxes were horrible. Lady told us that the course didn’t have enough money to run the equipment. We prepaid so a return is next to impossible. I will play in my yard before I go back here.
Getting Worse
Local course getting worse by the week. Greens and fairways lack grass but not weeds. I find the conditions worse every time I play here. This time I was not surprised to find the course worse than usual due to heavy rains. I found club house locked at the end of my round at 1:30 pm denying access to even the washroom. Suspect this course will be closed before the end of the summer due to mismanagement.
Regular Guy
I had a tee time of 12:56pm. The pro shop told me they close the course at 1:00pm everyday. But was allowed to play through 8 holes. Then was stop by Course Owner and told to leave. Because the course is closed.
Even though I was given a receipt and golf cart and told to go ahead and play and have a good time. The Owner was very rude and offensive. I will not be back to this course.
Sad fairways.
Most of the fairways are in rough shape. Putting green is now weeds. I have played there many times over the years and it seems that the course is getting worse. For the money I will be playing somewhere else from now on.
Fairways
I have to say that Sherwood is usually always my go to golf course. Some of the fairways were in rough shape and some were in wonderful shape. Miss seeing a cartperson with drinks.
Coming along
Most greens in good shape. Challenging layout
Great staff
Some fairways need some grass but is improving
Cow pasture
To start with, I had a 12:48om tee time. I went on-line and there were still open tee times from 11am up to 12:48pm. I called the course to see if I could get out early and they said no. I got to course and went to the range. It basically was all weeds. Once I got to the first tee, the starter was pretty rude and short with me. If I hadn’t prepaid the round I would’ve walked off and asked for a refund at this point.. There was no grass at all( I mean AT ALL) in the fairways. The greens were very inconsistent from green to green., hard packed dirt in sand traps and no grass at all on the tee boxes.
This was my first time and LAST time playing the course. This course should be taken off the GolfNow program.
Course a little dry
back nine much better shape, sand traps good, most greens good, nice course for the price
it has come a long way
I had not played this course in several years as it previously was just terrible in every possible way.
Ownership has changed a couple of times and now the course is quite playable...greens are good a few places in the fairways are rough and the actual rough is cow pasture like, There is water everywhere, some you have to hit over but mostly along the sides. I would say if you are within a 30 minute drive or so...check it out...I'll go back myself though there are many better places to play in Central Florida
Great value for the money
Played as a two couple foursome on a sunny day after an all day rain the previous day. I say this because the course was well drained except for two fairways on the back nine. All the greens were dry and in good condition albeit slow. Sand traps were still recovering but still the overall condition was very good. Pace was slowed by a foursome in front with no one visible beyond them. The ranger knew the situation but let it go even though groups were piling up behind us. This course offers good challenges from all tees.
Enjoying the Day
We arrived early to put a little. The practice green was newly moved and was in bad shape due to its youth. The staff were having a power struggle on who decided if we could go out early or not. We did get out a little early.
Some of the fairways were in rough condition but the greens were pristine. The one thing to remember is we are all playing in the same condition and to enjoy the day.
challenging
greens were quite fast overall a good challenge.
staff is outstanding very friendly.
