One of the best courses for the money in the county
I have played this course through the years a couple times a year. Prior to the current ownership and management the course went into very poor conditions. The course has made a drastic comeback in regards to the condition of the greens and fairways. I would rate the greens in the top four in the county. I had company from out of the state during the holidays that wanted to golf and I recommended the Sherwood country club and they loved it.
Golf Sherwood
This Brevard County course is the only public course that doesn't gouge locals with price increases during high volume tourist season. Brevard Conty residents need to support the course for its loyalty to us and to remind the other price gouging coursss during summer months by not playing their courses.
thursdaygolf
course was a fun layout looked like they had recently redid all green complexes and tee box they were in great shape but in between was a bit rough still fun place to play except on this particular day the play was at a glacial pace almost did not finnish it was so slow.
We're sorry to say that Sherwood Golf Course has returned to its former state of (neglect). We had a fairly good impression of it last year. Been playing there since 2001. The new gas carts don 't add to an otherwise peaceful atmosphere.
2nd Time...
The greens were perfect in all manners. Fairways need work but still can get a good lie. Tee boxes were like hitting out of first cut rough. In general, a good course to play 4 ur money. My first time I played, the staff was very friendly and the starter was a very nice lady and after checking in w/her and seeing that I was a single, she immediately hooked me up with a 3 some, 45 minutes b4 my tee time. Second time I played, starter asked me if I was w/Golfnow and immediately copped an attitude and was not given any freedom whatsoever on joining up with a another group teeing off earlier and he said that all golfnow players are not allowed any advantages and will tee off at the designated tee time. I sat and watched the #1 tee was player free for over 30 minutes b4 allowing me to tee off. Never had this thrown in my face after all of these years being a golfnow member since 2009! So, I wait until 10 minutes b4 my tee time to get a cart and there's a single and a senior husband/wife 2 some all booked with golfnow. I ask the single to join up with me but he wasn't allowed, he had to stay with the couple and the starter even took the couple's cooler away when all they had was Gatorade! So I have to tee up and play as a single while the other 3 had to play together. Why the starter wouldn't allow the single to play with me from the 1st tee was inexcusable and very unprofessional!??? He eventually joined me on #3 tee and we had a great 18. He also was very unimpressed and put off by this man's behavior and was going to mention this in his review as well. So golfnow members beware when u play at Sherwood. We've been PROFILED!!
enjoyable afternoon
chose Sherwood because of an excellent hot deal on golf now ($28/twosome). fairly interesting layout and playable by all levels of golfers. greens rolled true and average speed. don't know what weather conditions have been, but tee boxes and some fairways were like playing from light rough. pro shop was closed when we finished, so couldn't inquire about normal conditions. water comes into play on several holes, so pay attention to the scorecard if you don't know the course. (I didn't always-to my regret.) would play there again.
Slower than usual
Staff would not let me tee off until time reserved through golfnow despite no one tee'd off for 25 minutes ahead of me. Played as a single and caught up to a shootout group. Should have quit after 9 holes but stayed to enjoy rocks in sand bunkers and damaging the sole of my 6 iron by a hitting a hidden rock in a fairway. Oh well it was only $14 what more can you expect.
Old Course But Great Value
Based on the owner's budget and that of the residents, this course is a great value. Nice layout, fairways are decent for summer conditions, and most important to me, greens are true and speed isn't bad (again, for summer). Pace of play is super, which trumps every other factor. Keeper!
Summer play
Course is in good shape for the middle of the summer. They are redoing the tee boxes so yardage is a little off. But all in all a good round for the price
Good Hot Deal and Great Burgers
Played Sherwood for the 1st time as a result of a great Hot deal I couldn't pass om.
The check in was smooth and friendly. The course has seen better days as fairways are spotty in most to all areas. The greens are decent and roll pretty fast. Bottom line is that if you get a great hot deal and are in the area use it.
Also, this place serves possibly one of the best burgers in the area. Kudos to Dan & Dale the burger guys.
Older Course with Slow Pace of Play
Overall the course was in good shape and fairly interesting, although shorter and without any hidden surprises. At least the day we played the the patrons were of a demographic that prefers a slower gentler pace but it was consistent. It would not have been an issue but we had plans for after lunch.
This was our first time playing and may not be like this every day, but go into it expecting it and you should be okay.
this course has good challenging fairways and greens
I play this course all the time. One day it seems easy and the next time it plays hard. the back nine challenges me every time.
A fair test of golf.
Sherwood is an enjoyable, moderately difficult and at time tight, course with a good mix of hole lengths. The fairways on several holes can be quite wet at times but were fine on this day. The greens can be quite undulating and were in very good shape for this time of year. Pace of play was slow, but this was a busy Monday, and was due in most part to a particular party. Pace of play is usually not an issue.
very challenging course
À very good deal on a course that makes you work .you have to use All of your clubs.
Great Value
The day that I played featured a steady 25-30mph wind out of the west, which brought the water hazards guarding the fairways into play. The fairways were firm, but with a few bare patches. The greens were in good shape; very firm and fast. Staff was very friendly. I was greeted by name when I stepped in the door. All in all a very good time, and a great value for the dollars invested!
