The National Golf Club of Louisiana
About
The National Golf Club of Louisiana is the cornerstone of the Westlake community. The course wanders through towering stands of beautiful Louisiana soft pines that provide an idyllic setting. The layout measures more than 7,000 yards from the back tees, offering plenty of holes that will please long hitters. The challenging greens are known to be some of the largest of any golf course in the area. The size of the greens can accommodate a variety of hole locations, allowing the course to play differently each time. You'll be tested with 80 strategically placed bunkers and 14 different lakes that come into play throughout. The generously wide fairways are seemingly docile but the subtle slopes and rolling terrain can be unforgiving. Accuracy and proper club selection are the keys to scoring well at The National Golf Club of Louisiana.

great and affordable course
If you get an online deal, it's an great value. The course is very well kept and maintained. It is a pleasure to be able to play a nice course that is affordable to the average golfer. I don't need all the bells and whistles of a plush club house. Keep it like is, simple and affordable.
16 out of 18 greens to be covered in weeds that disrupt your putting. Ants on the T boxes that bite you when trying to drive. Just over all the last 4 times I’ve been I was not impressed.
Great course, but really bumpy greens
I really enjoyed the layout of this golf course. It offers a couple of challenging tee shots, and you need to be pretty accurate with your approach shots as well. Unfortunately, the greens were really patchy and bumpy, and it seemed like weeds were just taking over the greens.
Besides that, the staff was friendly, and the pace of play was really good for a Sunday afternoon.
Great day
My wife and I Enjoyed a relaxing day of golf on a very nice course at an affordable price. It was a great day.
Great course not so great greens
This is my second time to play here and the greens have gone down big time. Love the layout and it’s a shame that the greens aren’t good at all.
Fun course
Great course lay out. Staff very friendly. Greens had a lot of crab grass which made putting hard to read but overall. Course is well maintained and would definitely play there again.
Small things matter
The course is wonderful
Great layout with a good blend of water and sand traps. The pace of play is good, can pile up at times but that’s understandable. The only issue is with the sand traps , they are in bad shape and affects the play of the game significantly. That being said , the course is well worth playing ,it’s enjoyable and fun
Don’t leave without visiting the restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff wonderful
It was OK
There were a lot of holes that were being re-sodded and part of the fairways were roped off, as well as one hole being turned from a par 4 to a par 3 due to course work. Overall it was just ok, I don’t think I would play there again. But the staff was nice.
nice greens
The greens were in great shape. Average course conditions and layout due to a few shortened holes or temporary greens due to course maintenance.
Staff needs training.
It's not hard to refill water coolers in the middle of the summer. Making someone pay over $3.50 for a 20oz sports drink is ridiculous. The cart girl didn't even come around on the back nine.
That would be fine if we were allowed to bring our own coolers.
When I walked in the pro shop, I had to greet them
They looked at me like I was stupid. They expected me to know where everything was and how things worked there..
The grounds keepers and the Marshall deserve all the credit on this visit. I dont plan on going back. I expected more.
Golf and Gamble
1st time at this course. Nice layout. Great staff. Great value with TeeOff. Only reason for low mark on condition was due to recent aeration. Would definitely play again.
Great Course, Bad Experience
The course is in great shape. My two big complaints are this: 1)The pace of play was excruciatingly slow and nobody that worked the course seemed to care at all. 2) It was 100 degrees raw temp, multiple water coolers were empty and the cart girl had no water to sell. She mentioned that they were completely out of water.
I brought 80oz of water knowing it was going to be a scorcher. I never dreamed a seasoned course that knows summer heat would let their coolers run dry and leave their cart girl with no water.
Ordeal
I took a chance that the wind would mitigate the heat. Unfortunately, the wind died. Making matters worse…many fairways had automatic limiters on the carts despite ninety degree rule posted…making it cartpath only. Despite taking an extended break at the turn, the heat and fatigue sapped my strength and any control in the short game. Seniors should not play this course during heat advisories! You will be required to walk on many of the fairways…which appeared to be in good shape. See you in late September.
