Mosfellsbaer GC - A+ Iceland Scenery, C- Conditions & Service

The Good: The Hlidavollur golf course at Mosfellsbaer Golf Club is quite the visual experience with several holes right on the bay and huge mountains in the distance. Fantastic design is one of the newer courses in the area and has a mesmerizing set of Par 5's, good Par 4 variety, and some interesting Par 3's. Fairways are ample and the greens are large, yet treacherous. Newly built clubhouse has a very nice (yet expensive) restaurant and pro shop has nice product. Practice area is nice with driving range and large putting green. Good value for the area at around $100. Just make sure to bring your own golf balls as a dozen will cost more than the golf!

The Bad: Unfortunately the course conditions don't live up to the beauty of the course. The fairways are inconsistent and the greens are extremely shaggy yet don't hold well. The staff is adequate but don't provide any on-course assistance. The rental clubs we used were missing clubs or consisted of multiple brands. There are no yardage markers except for the 150m/100m stakes. The food and amenities are extremely overpriced.

The Verdict: Mosfellsbaer is a really fun golf experience if you can get past that its muni-like conditions and savor its otherworldly great aesthetics. A fun course for all skill levels and that will only improve over time.

Best Hole: The uphill Par 5 12th has huge lava hazards left and right and an amazing infinity green with the bay and mountains in the backdrop.
