The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Club offers 27 unforgettable holes that are set right in the heart of Canada's Rocky Mountains. The holes play through Jasper National Park, which means not only will golfers be surrounded by unrivaled natural beauty but there might also be elk or other wildlife joining them on the golf course. The holes are divided into three nines: Sulphur, Rundle, and the newest Tunnel. The new holes were added in 1989, 62 years after Banff Springs G.C. first opened, but they blend seamlessly with the original design. Tunnel brings water into play on three holes and it is touted to have the most stunning views of the three nines.

A must play course in Alberta

While this is definitely not the most challenging course in the area, it is the prettiest. The course gives female golfers a definite advantage on just about every hole. This increases the rate of play for your two or foursome. I think the one thing I’d change would be the cost. Even it was reduced by 20% it would attract more players.

A Great Compliment to Stanley's Masterpiece.

Fantastic course. I enjoyed everything about it. The layout was really good, presenting some challenges with a fair mix of holes. Being an Ontario public golfer the bunkering here was like nothing I've ever seen. Many of the bunkers were sculpted and raised, and not just pits in the ground. This presented some interesting views where bunkers could block your line of sight to the green and all you would see is the top half of the flagstick, with a bunker in front and a wall of mountains behind. Incredible scenery but that goes without saying.

Played with a few locals who were really friendly and accommodating.

Practice facilities were all closed which was understandable as it was late in the season, but a little disappointing. Would have loved to have warmed up before stepping onto a world class course like Banff, especially when you are paying more than $10/ hole!!

In my opinion, this course (and the Original Stanley Thompson 18) present a better challenge and more world class golf experience than its ancestor JPL.

Tunnel nine celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019

After playing the famous original Rundle-Sulphur nines, my group ate lunch, then went back out for a quick jaunt around the Tunnel nine. It was a great discovery. I really enjoyed it. The holes were all unique and interesting. It didn't feel out of character with Stanley Thompson's work, either.
It's a perfect loop for locals and members who are looking to play golf and don't want to deal with the crowds and cost of the original 18. It was sporty fun.
When I first visited Banff in 2010, I ignored this loop not realizing what it was. This time, I'm glad I played it.
