Scenic Golf Views

This is a true mountain golf experience, with dramatic elevation changes and incredible views of Canmore’s Rocky Mountains.
The course was challenging with some really extreme lies, but it was in excellent condition.
Hole 18 is a really spectacular way to finish a round of golf.

Solid Course

Played Silvertip for the first time. Beautiful backdrop and very picturesque. I thought the course was in pretty good shape but my friend who lives near Calgary said it was pretty beat up. However, we had a great time and I'd play it again.

Beautiful course / Poor customer service

A person can get a way better experience for a fraction of the price at other courses in Alberta.. Poor tee boxes and real poor customer service for what a round costs. It is in the mountains which is nice but a person can see the views for free on a hike so I don’t know how to rate that portion of the course.

I'm in love with this course!

First time visiting the Canadian Rockies, and the local host couldn't have picked a more magical place for golf. We were on a waiting list to get a tee time and I thank God that we were selected to play. This was my first true mountain golf experience. I thought I was in love with links style courses by the sea, but this course might have taken that spot. Silvertip was a 10 out of 10 on all aspects: the course layout, course conditions, the tees, the greens, the practice facilites, the staff and the 19th hole bar/restaurant. But most of all, the spectacular views and the nature around you cannot be beat. I think I'm going to have dreams about playing this course, because it left and indelible mark in my brain.

Alberta big hitter

Silvertip, I am not sure what else to say but wow. This course is special, and after playing it I am not surprised by the fact that it is highly regarded in Canada. I loved this course, it checked nearly every box of things that I like in a golf course. First off, the clubhouse is extremely nice. Nice big pro shop with multiple items, including a great yardage book and nice logo ball. They have a restaurant and a bar area, the bar is very nice with multiple televisions and some doors that swing open and connect it to the best patio seating area I have seen. Awesome patio that looks over the 18 fairway and green as well as the tee box and fairway of 10. Food was great and the people were nice. The course is incredible, so many trees and the views are top notch. Mountains everywhere you look, it is really something. It is extremely quiet even though there are a few small housing areas on the course, I didn’t mind that. The greens were great, vert fast and they were smooth as glass. White sand bunkers are always a plus, the only thing I would have liked a little more was a newer golf cart, this one wasn’t that old and it had GPS on it but I still am a sucker for newer carts. The driving range was very cool, hit balls into a mountain back drop. Very nice range. First hole takes you down a few switch backs with the cart which is fun.

6 sets of tees to make it fun for everyone, 7140 yds from the tips down to 4822 from the reds. Plenty of length options to choose from. The very first hole is 345 from the tips, dog leg left. You can cut the corner or play a draw around the bend and hit a hill which will roll you even closer. Awesome hole to start the round and a fun one to see how close you can get. Every hole on this course was fun and provided different challenges, tons of elevation change gives you some great tee views and makes every hole pretty easy to remember. The tips give you some really long holes especially #8 at 555 yds, #14 at 598 yds. #18 is a 464 yd par 4 with an awesome tee shot that dog legs to the left, and drop in elevation heavily. You play your tee shot towards elevated sign that is a bear, and let the hill do the work. Awesome hole, as you come down the hill the views are incredible and there is a nice pond as well as the club house. Makes for a very memorable round. I wont forget this one soon and am already looking into coming back to Banff to play Silvertip again, as well as try a few new ones. Highly recommend, this is in my top 5 for sure.

Magnificent course

Our group played 3 courses in Canmore, AB (Canmore GC, Stewart Creek, Silvertip). All were enjoyable. The one that I recommend if you only can play one round is Silvertip. Every hole is beautifully designed and the views of the mountains are amazing. Several holes have water features, so it really is stunning to play. Several challenging holes hit up and down hill being situated on the side of a mountain range, Silvertip rates in the top 5 courses I've played, and I've played many great courses around the world.

Great Course - Not RCGA Certified?!

First of all, beautiful course. Its a great challenge and great scenery. The greens were nice and fast and rolled true on each and every hole. The fairways were great and the rough was a challenge but nothing unbearable. We had a bit of rain so slightly soggy but nothing that took away from the round.

My biggest drawback on this course is the slope and rating is not recognized by Alberta Golf or the RCGA, which means you cannot enter a score when playing at this course. I love to try new courses but the reason I do is so that my handicap is more accurate and not just from one club. For such a beautiful and well recognized course I have no idea why they cant produce a recognized slope and rating.

Canmore golf

Unreal views. Lot of shots to either uphill or extreme downhill to green shots. When we played it was cat paths only. After 9 I ask pro shop If we could go on course walking the hills was crazy difficult. Fortunately we were allowed to go on fairways on back. Like I said unreal in the mountains.

Lots to see and fun golf

The elevation changes alone make this course a must play. With the changes comes some of the best views of the mountains on any course. Right off the first tee you have a huge downhill dogleg that sets the tone for an enjoyable round.
A lot of fun shots while also mixing in some very difficult recovery shots if your game is not on. It makes you think while not making you play shots you don't have. Mid-summer this course is at its best with really quick greens that make short putts stomach tumblers.
A great place to visit and play once. Steep price may keep thrifty golfers away but to hit a ball into some of those backdrops is at least worth trying once.

A must play in Alberta

The experience is amazing! Stunning views and immaculate course. Elevation changes and undulations make good ball striking necessary to score well but with multiple tees it caters to all levels of golfers. Although no matter what you score I am certain you will leave with a smile. Friendly staff and an awesome patio overlooking the course.

Amazing scenery and challenging

First time I played this course and I already want to make a trip back. It was in excellent condition and a very friendly environment. Plenty of elevation tee to green and very challenging fairways force you to play a long iron off the tee instead of driver. Really brings out the kind of golfer you are and challenges your skills. I played it in a drizzle cloudy kinda day so I can only imagine how nice it would have been with sunshine! Highly recommended
