Quail Hollow Golf Course, located in Wesley Chapel, sits a convenient five minutes off of I-75 and state road 54. This championship course, designed by Charles E. Griffin, has been a favorite of Tampa locals since opening in 1965. The layout underwent major renovations in 2011 that totally reconditioned the greens and fairways as well as partially rebuilt it to make it more challenging. Bunkers were both reshaped and added. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and the large bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides. The golf course is demanding at times and will test your shot-making skills, but it is a fair challenge that is not too intimidating for beginners. Four sets of tees make it even more approachable for a range of skill levels.

Okay for the money.... Has potential..
The course lay out is fair condition..Did not have a practice putting green and I didn't see a driving range to warm up on. The person in the club house told me to wait until another person that had booked showed up, even though there was only maybe 8 cars in the parking lot. The greens need a lot of attention. They were in poor condition.. Many of the tee boxes did not have any grass on them.. The fairways were in fair condition. It is a shame they do not put a little money into this course and bring it up to it's potential. It has promise. This was the first time I played it. I drove over an hour to play it not sure that I would again unless I heard it was in better condition.
Course Conditions
The course is in the worst shape I have seen in years. There were 6-7 temporary greens and the greens that were actually used were in worse shape than the temporary greens.
Very disappointed
I booked this as a prepaid Hot Deal. I drove 75 miles down from Leesburg, and my playing buddy drove an equal distance up from Bradenton to play it. When I got to the course, I checked in at the pro shop desk. The young lady there was very pleasant, but made no mention of the course conditions to me. I found out (by overhearing) from another golfer who was checking in and complaining to the young lady at the desk that there were 5 temporary greens, a fact which was not previously disclosed by the course on the Golf Now listing, and would have made us look for another course to play. The desk person was apologetic, but offered no relief to either of us. The practice green was heavily sanded and unusable. In addition to the 5 temporary greens, most of the rest of the greens were in very poor condition (also not disclosed by the course in the Golf Now listing). Many of the tee boxes were in poor condition. On the plus side, in spite of the recent rains, the fairways were in playable condition, the roughs were fairly well mowed and playable, and most of the bunkers were well maintained and had fluffy sand. However, based on my experience, I can't recommend Quail Hollow, and I doubt that I will return there to play.
What a sad situation
Quail Hollow is a great facility that has been allowed to be run down terribly. This course has long been rumored to be for sale, or already sold, to make way for housing. When we arrived, we saw surveyors taking measurements all over the place.
There were at least FOUR temporary greens, perhaps five-I just can't remember. There are tons of courses I can play in this area with actual greens, and for some reason GolfNow did not indicate any situation like this. The greens that were open were a disaster and unputtable. They top dressed some of the greens with sand, but it was obvious to see that they may as well take this place off life support. I used to really enjoy this course. Now I strongly suggest that you stay away, regardless of the price.
Worse greens ever played!
The worse greens I have ever played. 5-6 replacement greens cut out of the fairway. No note of this on their website or on golf now. $30 will let you play much nicer courses in the area this time of year. They should charge no more than $10 to play this course in the current conditions.
Unplayable Greens
This is by far the worst course I have played. The greens are completely unplayable and the staff members are not friendly at all. I was disappointed because I played the course a few months ago and the course was in okay condition. The course should be closed until the greens are repaired or replaced.
Unplayable
The course is in horrible condition. It should close until the greens are replaced. Huge disappointment and a waste of time and money.
Fun course
The layout of the course was wonderful. The course conditions were excellent except for the greens. The greens were almost all dirt with just enough grass to make things very bumpy. It was a very difficult putting day. I hope the next time we play there the greens are in better shape.
What happened to the greens?
Tee boxes - good
Fairways - good
Rough - properly cut
Greens - gone, dirt, unputtable
My two friends and I meet there for our annual round together. First green was a forecast of all 17 other greens - poor to non-existent
Worst experience ever
At the fourth when the green keeper approached me and my son and said "the boss man said stay of the fairway or he will kick you out" first I was not on the fairway with the cart and had not been on any. I was on the rough next to the tee. The signs in some holes said cart on path only and in this particular fourth hole it only said cart off fairway NOT cart on path only. When I disputed this with the boss man he was very very rude and said if you don't like it just get the h... out. He would not refund my money or give credit.
What is important for everyone to know is the 2 groups playing behind us we're playing with carts on fairway. When I showed the picture to the Boss man he claimed one of the guys had no leg. I respect that but what about the other group he just kept quite.
Greens are really bad and I mean it. Bunkers full of water.
Not Recommended
Tee boxes were in fair condition, some were terrible.
Fairways were in good condition overall.
Greens were the worst I've ever played on. Many worn-out with little to no grass. Need to be closed with temporary greens placed to work on regular greens.
I would not recommend this course to be played until the greens are given the attention needed to make them playable again.
Poorly maintained
I've played this course twice the first time was enjoyable but the second time was terrible. Half of the fairways had standing water and most of the greens were covered in sand and bumpy. The bunkers were completely solid like concrete. It only cost $14 but that was a hot deal it's usually more. I would not pay more than $10 to play here.
Horrible greens
Fairways in great shape. Dry and well maintained. BUT, the putting greens were a combination of dirt, holes and sand. Worst looking greens I have ever played. I will call first to course before playing there again to find out condition of greens.
Tee boxes and fairways were amazing. The greens however needed a lot of work, just about every green was 80% dirt and 20% grass. Other than that, it was a quick easy round, didn't run into anyone or see anyone behind us the entire round, ended up finishing in 3.5 hours. Get the greens to the conditions of the fairways and I'll be back
Poor condition
I've played here a 100 times!! Last week it's the worst I've ever seen the greens.lost for words.it's bad bad bad!!
nice course
pace of play was great, no waiting any hole.
course in good shape will be be very good with a little more rain.
cart service was an extra. saw her 4/ 5 times during round.
Heard the course my shut down but there is no obvious signs. well maintained.
I can't help but notice that Quail Hollow STILL hasn't updated their listing on GolfNow to indicate that they have temporary greens. This, despite stating that they would do so long ago. This is not an accident, it is intentional. I'm also dispppointed with GolfNow because I called them and told them about the misleading listing.
