Magrath Golf Club
About
Situated less than a half hour from Lethbridge, Magrath Golf Club is known among locals as the South's hidden gem. The course sprawls across gently rolling hills dotted with mature trees. The greens are quick and the fairways are generous on this player-friendly layout. There is a stream that snakes through the golf course in addition to a number of lakes. You'll encounter water on nearly every hole and you'll also have to contend with a few strategically placed bunkers. The golf course begins with a par-4 dogleg right with a fairway bunker on the left and trees all along the right side. Magrath Golf Club's final hole is another par 4, though this one is a bit tougher. There is trouble from tee to green, starting with a tee shot over water to a sloped fairway. Two bunkers guard the front of the green, making approaches extremely difficult.

Stan
Best in the west
This is the one of the best courses in the Lethbridge area. Meticulously groomed course.
no cart service
no cart service on course. THe course is in very good condition.
better hit it straight
It was a windy day when playing this course. course is not easy as you need to keep it in play of the tee as the rough is sticky and if u dont reach the doglegs on some of the holes your blocked by trees or no angle to the green. Greens are tough to read and some bowl shaped. Would recommend if its windy play blue tees as when windy most holes are either into or side winds.
One of most challenging country course i've played.
calm in the valley
a great course when the weather is windy. Down in the valley the course plays well and the wind doesn't affect many holes. True greens and lush fairways. Lots of challenges on each hole.
This course is a hidden gem
Played last Saturday and despite the sky's opening up on the 15 hole it was an enjoyable round. Fairways were well kept and mostly green although there has not been much rain in the area. The greens were firm and fast with some tuff pin placements. Was in great shape overall will certainly play Magrath again next time we are in Lethbridge.
Great course.....But
Course is in great shape. Didnt know league was going on (Thursdays). Had to play the back nine twice. First nine was quick( but no cart service). Tried to buy a soda at the vending machine at 15 but it stole my money. Second nine was dead slow 15-20 min wait on every t box. But the beer cart started to come Overall. Great course to play. Would have liked to do the front. Don't book on Wednesdays.
Magrath
This course is a hidden gem and in great shape. Carts are in need of being replaced but the value more than makes up for it.
Super day!
The staff was super friendly, course was in super condition for the early part of the year. Paired up with a couple ladies, and we had a super round of golf.
Good course, bad timing.
Overall the course was in great shape for the late season. The only negative was they had just airerated the greens so they were not in good shape. Would come back for sure.
Love It
Pros: Enjoyed playing this course. Greens were in great shape along with the nicely manicured fairways. The scenery and wildlife were a bonus.
Cons: Bunkers could use more sand as several were hard packed.
Southern Alberta Gem
A great course half hr from lethbridge.
Sure is a long course but has a great layout.
Well worth checking out!
Great value
I was a little sceptical when I saw that they were a "hidden gem" but the course was in great condition and well laid out for the average golfer. Wide fairways, challenging greens, excellent course conditions and good pace of play made this a great golf experience. Would definitely play this course again on future visits to the area. To boot, the pro staff repaired a broken club I had and only charged $5.
Magrath Golf
The course was in excellent shape and not busy. The fairways, greens were in excellent shape. There were also several does and fawns on the course which added to the experience. Great day!
Challenging, nice layout.
Great for the average golfer as it challenges your strategy for ball placement throughout the course. Good variety of par 3,4 & 5s. Greens were quite fast and the scenery is appealing , also has an abundance of wildlife.
Quality Course
Always a fun round. Greens are in great shape. Worth a round or two for sure.
Relaxing atmosphere.
Some winter-kill still very evident on fairways, but to be expected after their colder than average winter.
Friendly staff allowed me to pair-up & go early.
Very relaxing & river-valley setting.
Really nice course but
I've been golfing this course for 30 years and never get tired of the layout. It winds through a valley formed by a small creek that comes into play on a number of holes. A true country course where there's lot of room and you never feel crowded, in fact you are hard pressed to even see adjacent holes most times. The course is in great shape although they had started punching and sanding the greens the day we played. Now the but, in an effort to make the course play harder they have narrowed the fairways by extending the rough on both sides. This wouldn't be a bad idea if there was a first cut of rough and then a longer cut further out but right off the fairway the rough is 3 to 4 inches long. And it's lush so much so that we spend a considerable amount of time just looking for balls because you can't see them until you're right on top of them. This reduces the enjoyment factor where a ball a foot off a now narrow fairway is very difficult to hit. It's been like this all season and is making the course frustrating not challenging.
Prairie Gem
Great find in the prairies. Long, challenging course with diverse layout. Quiet and pretty setting with Oldman River winding through the entire course. Well maintained greens and fairways. Would definitely golf here again.
