Banyan Cay Resort & Golf
About
Originally opened as the Eagle Course at President Country Club, Banyan Cay Resort & Golf was renovated by Nicklaus design in 2017. The fairways are lined with coquina and pampas grass and there are also water hazards and sand bunkers coming into play throughout. The layout offers interesting par 3s that offer particularly nice scenery and a mix of par 4s that range from having ample room to being very tight and requiring more careful course management. The golf course opens with a risk-reward opportunity, a dogleg-right par 5 with a strategically placed lake.

beautiful layout
would recommend this golf course is beautiful the greens where a bit quick
OK course
Greens had recently been topped and were still very sandy. Clubhouse was temporary so no 19th hole and the course does not currently run back to the clubhouse at the turn. Very hot humid day and they could have had more water on the course.
Great layout
Great Robert Trent Jones layout preparing for future reconstruction.
Fairways pretty good, greens recovering from aeration but ok, some tee boxes spotty .
My favorite course so far.
I've played a lot of courses this summer but had the most fun on my round here. Very beautiful scenery and excellent layout and conditions
this course has changed its layout
Course was in good condition a few weeds around the edges but over all good shape. they had just sanded the greens but they rolled surprisingly good.
GREENS CAROTTES
Nice layout and Greens
Very fair and playable course. Greed were in very nice shape with medium speed. Good variety of holes. Worth playing.
Good course
It's a new course so not much of a clubhouse but the driving range and bag drop is rite next to the parking lot so not much of a wait from park to play. Great conditions really tough greens.
Great course
Great course I think since the course have been sold the improvement are vicsible
Tips Aren't Optional
I NEVER write reviews but I feel compelled to do so for this course. Overall we had a good time, the course was in decent shape, and much of the staff was friendly. However, the starter/ranger was outrageous when we started our round. From the second he introduced himself until we tee'd off he was repeatedly asking for a cash tip. My father handed him our receipt to show we paid and he said "I don't take white paper, I only take green paper." It seemed harmless at first and actually a bit funny. But it didn't stop there. He then gave us a few quick tips about the first hole and immediately repeated "see why I deserve some green paper." He then asked us where we were from and quickly made another statement about how we should tip him. And after we tee'd off and had both made decent shots he repeated again, "now don't I deserve some green paper for that?" My father reluctantly handed him a $5 bill because he didn't know what else to do. This guy is also the ranger and it seemed entirely possible that he could give us a hard time out on the course if we elected not to tip him. He probably brought up and/or directly asked for a tip 6 times in the 4 minutes we were around him. It was terribly uncomfortable and really poor form on his part. If he was fired or forced to change his approach this course would have gotten a better rating from me (actually it wouldn't have gotten any rating because as I said, I don't ever write reviews). It was a very odd way to start a round of golf after dropping $180 on greens fees for two golfers. Get your act together Banyan Cay.
Played here while on Spring Break Vacation
I was on vacation to SoFL and played Banyan Cay. I played here before during the Christmas break. The course is solid. Fairways, Tees & Bunkers were nice. The Greens were healthy but cut a bit long so they were a tad slow. The greens crew mentioned that all of SoFL has had a wet/overcast winter and many courses had grass growing problems. They chose to keep the grass healthy and raised the mowers a bit. The greens putted true, just a bit slow.
We got caught in a rain delay in the middle of the round but the course drained well and we finished.
The course is a bit pricey but if you want to play a nice course with a good layout - I recommend this course.
This course has great features
Very nice tee off and great fairway
the greens are a big challenge.
Finally every things is great.
Play it
A bit pricey for the current Cond of the greens but the twi lite is worth it. Great layout plenty of tee options for all skill levels. Staff was on point. I've played worse for more $$ and better for less$$ this one is right in the middle with HUGE potential. Greens are on their way to being better. Can't rush that it's a science. Go play it.
No more Presidents
First off, yes the clubhouse is being torn down and a resorts/residential community is going up in its place. This course will no longer be public in two years and I am sure the prices will high. That is what you get in palm beach county.
The clubhouse is now a trailer, kind of like west palm beach golf course, but it is more up to date. No more grill and just a small amount of pro shop gear.
Driving range was in great shape with bright yellow balls. Carts have the same GPS unit and are accurate for the most part.
The course itself is a 4. The tee boxes and fairway were in great shape. Not many dead spots and good for the end of season. As for the greens and the sandtraps, well they were a two. The sand is hard and not typical of what you would find on a course this pricey. The greens are ok. They did let them grow out and you can tell they have not been rolled in a long time because they are slow, I mean real slow. The back nine has three holes with alot of dead spots on the greens which make it tough. I was able to complete my round in 4 hours, but it was pretty empty.
I will come back during the summer when rates are lower, but this course is hit or miss for the most part.
Also watch out for the fire ants. There are mounds of them through out the course.
Other then thank enjoy!
Great golf and location
Convenient location and great golf.
Banyan Cay Golf
Only one course remains today. Very good condition. The grand clubhouse has is isolated by construction fencing, replaced by a small mobile trailer. There wasn't any evidence of construction activity on the property, during my round.
The course was in very good condition, one I would want to play again.
Pleasantly Surprised
Had played this course many years ago when it was Presidential gold club. Vastly im proved. Very good condition. Many tees to choose from provide a great variety for those of all levels. will definitely return..
Decent course, but not worth the cost
The layout of the course was nice and challenging. There wasn't a restaurant or a decent snack bar...for the cost of the course, you would expect those amenities. Also, the greens were really worn down and not manicured at all. With all of the comparable courses nearby, this course should be priced half of what they charged. The PGA village courses, that are pristine, are less then Banyan Cay and more challenging. I would chose anyone of them over Banyan. Unless they drop their pricing by at least half, then I would stay away from this course. Way better options nearby.
not woth it
played here earlier in the season and the course, particularly the greens, were in much better condition.
Yesterday greens very slow and many unrepaired divots; fairways/rough in poorer shape. They charge a premium relative to other courses ($90) and based on the conditions yesterday, not worth it.
Great layout
Every hole unique. Great design for every level of play. Experience will be even better when club house is finished. Staff was great.
