Pigeon Lake Golf Club

About
Pigeon Lake Golf Club is situated just 20 minutes west of Edmonton in Mulhurst Bay. It's also just a stone's throw from the shores of its namesake lake. The course is tucked away among forests of mature trees and even comes complete with its own artesian springs and streams. Don't be surprised if you're joined by some of the native wildlife during your round. Throughout the golf course you'll enjoy stunning views of the bay from between the treetops. The natural surroundings are ideal for a peaceful round of golf but don't be too lulled by the scenery because there are a few challenges in store. Pigeon Lake's classic layout is player-friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels, but the small greens can be tough to navigate and the towering trees, while providing some nice shade, also demand accuracy.

Fun to play
First time playing. Nice quiet area. Fairway conditions great. All the greens are turtleback! Needed a cut.
Fun play and nice challenge for all calibre of golfers.
Simple but great for family outing
Would recommend this course for family outing. Not a pro course. Somewhat challenging with many trees and narrow fairways and some water
Neutral Feelings About Course
On the plus side - if you are looking for a golf experience from the past than this course if for you. Could be a 100 year old course, so expect heavy tree lines along fairways with dog legs. The greens were in good condition and many were mounded but played slow. Tee boxes were for the most part raised and in good condition.
On the minus side - fairways were rough and had to drive slow with cart. Rough was thick and fairways were relatively good. The big negative was the tree under growth along fairways. Even if your ball strayed slightly into the trees, it was virtually impossible to find.
In summary, it was a good experience to get a flash from the past but neutral if I would go out of my way and return. Should you happen to be driving by - then I recommend it - but don't go out of your way if you are looking for a great golfing experience.
Neutral On Recommendation6
I'm having mixed feelings about this course. I'm not sure to give it a thumbs up or down. It's a old course and the layout is quite neat. It takes you back to a time when golf course design was different. Tee boxes and greens, although slow were satisfactory. However, the fairways wdr rough and hard. It didn't take much for your ball to stray into trees with heavy under growth and lost time looking for your ball that is nearly impossible to find, even though you saw it enter the edge. Rough was heavy, making it difficutt to locate ball. In conclusion, if you are passing through and you want to have a go back in time experience then I would suggest to give it a try. But if you are driving out to play that special course that draws yke back again and again - this one is not for you. w
