Osprey/Heron at Okeeheelee Golf Course
About
With a name meaning 'quiet waters' in the Seminole language, Okeeheelee Golf Course is situated amidst lush, rolling hills that overlook the sparkling waters of Clear Lake. There are 27 championship holes that are divided into three nines and can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Osprey, Heron, and Eagle nines are named after the various wildlife that can be seen throughout. Each golf course offers a different set of challenges and scenery. Okeeheelee's Osprey/Heron Course features a variety of elevation changes. There are scenic views from the elevated greens but don't become too distracted since there are many elements to contend with including towering trees, strategically placed bunkers, and deep rough lining the fairways. There are also plenty of water hazards coming into play.

Nice public course
First time playing and enjoyed it. We played with two others who had knowledge of the course. A lot of doglegs . Course was in very good shape and greens were running true. Will play again for the price
Top notch experience whenever I come
Excellent service from telephone to pro shop to starter to end of round. Smiles and simply down to earth staff.
Okeeheelee-Recent trip
Always a fun course in good condition. Greens were a little slow this go round. My one objection is they had one of the three nines closed and didn't space golfers correctly so it was a very long round and would have been very close to five hours if we hadn't walked off after 16.
course markings
I didn't have a GPS system that was working. The markings on the course were very bad. Seems like they would put a marker on the sprinkler heads or any other improved signage.
Only got to play 9 before the lightning horn went off!!!
When I went into the Pro Shop to get a rain check, I was told that since I booked with Golfnow, I would have to deal with them to get the money refunded.
I am pretty sure that is a lost cause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Condition
The course was in great condition considering the amount of play during snowbird season. We played the Osprey & Heron courses. I recommend this course.
Hot and Slow
From the start, stacking group every 7 minutes doesn't help when your group is sitting on the tee waiting for the four groups in front to even clear the hole, while already having the next group show up and wait for 10 minutes so we could tee off. It seemed from the start we ended up waiting on every hole for between 5-10 minutes, never did see a players assistant anywhere on the course to help keep the pace of play moving. Also in over a year playing on this course it always seems one of the 9-hole courses is always shut down, versus alternating tee times between the primary 2 - 9-hole starting tracks (Eagle/Osprey) finishing on Huron. In 5 years, I've have only played Eagle one time. At this rate I won't be back to play again until the player time gap is fixed or extended to 10-12 minutes between groups. My recommendation would be to have the players assistant on the first tee to coordinate with the starter to give groups teeing off at least a 5-7 head start before the next group even hits the tee, or at least have another assistant in the area between the 1-3 holes to track and better manage the pace of play to prevent group stacking of 4-5 groups on Par4-5 holes. No computer algorithm is going to plan for that.
Great Conditions
The course is finally back to it’s old quality which is a good thing. Tee boxes were a little narrow on certain holes but overall the fairways and greens in excellent condition. The starter even put us on another 9 at the turn than which we were supposed to go to just to speed things up since we were a twosome. That was very cool of her since we finished the round in just over 3 hours but if we stayed on the back nine we were supposed to it would have been 4 hours easily.
