Sandpiper Golf and Country Club
About
The Sturgeon River runs alongside Sandpiper Country Club, which sits on the outskirts of Alberta. The river warns you of the challenges to come on this 18-hole layout. The golf course features water on all but one hole and they're not the only hazards you'll come across. Strategically placed bunkers lurk along many of the greensides and fairways. The layout begins with a links-style front nine that is slightly more player friendly than the back nine, which is cut through mature forests with sheltering trees lining the fairways. Sandpiper Country Club's final five holes are some of the Edmonton area's toughest finishers. The golf course offers enough variety of keep the round interesting but the manageable 6,700-yard length and its forgiving nature give it appeal for players of all skill levels.

poor Service
Worst Customer Service and atitude i have ever experienced at a Golf Course! I have been to Private courses where i have been given better service! Started a round at 9:50am and twice had the Marshalls come around saying we need to pick up the pace. Since there was no group ahead of us at the 1st hole and we kept up to the pace of play but after the 2nd time they came around trying to tell us to catch up to an imaginary group and their own clock on the back nine verified that we were actually 5 minutes early!!! So when the Frigging Marshall is sitting on the 18th hole waiting for us to finish so he can tell us off again I lost it and told him to FO and unless he wanted to pay me himrself when we finished a round in under 4 hours 20 minutes.
Under Repair
Generally a good course to play, but with the amount of unusual wet weather, the course is under repair. They have done a decent job repairing the greens, but there are markers all over the fairways that can be distracting.
You get what you pay for
It's one of the more expensive courses in the area but not by much. The greens are always top notch. I always look forward to playing here.
Great greens
I have played several courses in Alberta and I would rate sandpiper greens as the best. Fast, firm and true. What more can you ask for
Course was ready for winter but very playable.
We were the third group out and did not have to wait on any hole. The course was in good shape and well maintained for the time of year.
Thanksgiving Golf!
I'm playing more and more golf and always wanted to play on Thanksgiving Day. The conditions were excellent, the price was right and the pace of play was fantastic! I am very pleased with Sandpiper and the deal offered via Golf Now! Highly Recommend!
Nice Golf Course.
Pace of play was a little slow on that day probably due to a small group tournament ahead of us. However, two group in front of us is playing six players which slow thing down tremendously.
Other than that I will play this course again.
Sandpiper is in good shape!
Only thing wrong was the slow play on a few holes which caused us not to get 18 holes in before dark.
Interesting and challenging
Course starts out rather blandly, but gets better with more interesting holes, more mature trees and plenty of challenging water and sand.
Nice course, multiple practice areas, many doglegs.
We got lucky and got an immense deal for Sandpiper on golfnow.. It's a nice course being part of the Country Club Tour family of courses in the Edmonton area. Sandpiper has a driving range, chipping area and putting area to practice/warm up on. The snack shop is separate from that of the club house which made things quite convenient. Staff were friendly and kept a casual atmosphere. Saw the cart service 3-4 times and our foursome appreciated that. There were many dogleg-left holes which I personally enjoyed.
Great Golf Course
This is a very enjoyable course to play as it provides challenges to any kind of golfer. The pro-shop staff/Marshalls are very friendly and treat you as their best customer. The course was in excellent shape and well maintained. There are few holes that you need to hit over the water and they provide extra effort from your side to keep your score low. I really enjoyed the degree of difficulty which varies from hole to hole. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who would like to have a great day of golf.
Course was in great shape.
Enjoyed the afternoon, course in good shape, greens are tricky.
Great golf course
Great golf course. Well maintained. Nice driving range. I really enjoy going for 18 holes there. Back 9 holes are a bit more challenging. I will recommend it to anyone from beginner to a more experienced golfer.
Could have been five stars
I have played this course a number of times over the years and right now it is in the best shape I have ever seen it. The course is well maintained and the greens are fast.
We had an early morning T off with no one in front of us. We had a learner in our group so our play was probably slower than normal but the group behind us were not being held up. The weather was great and we enjoyed our time. The only disappointment was lunch at the end of our round. The food was good but staff could have done a much better job of cleaning the patio tables. Could have been five stars!
Course was in good shape with all the rain this year.
I got a great deal on Golfnow enabling me to take my team golfing at a reasonable price. The course was in great shape this year likely attributed to the additional rain we had. Our foursome enjoyed the course as some have never played at Sandpiper before. Well done.
Great views
This is a hidden gem. My wife and I play this course about 11 or 12 times a year. That is even though we have to drive 90 min. We enjoy it that much. We find the staff very helpful and friendly. The pace of play is great usally 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
Snack shack not prepared with adequate food.
Pleasant enough time. Paths really bumpy and need attention.
Need water stations on course.
