Rating 60.5

Carved from dense forests of large fir and cedar trees, Cultus Lake Golf Club boasts a lush parkland setting. Initially created as a driving range in 1990, Cultus Lake became a nine-hole course and eventually, due to its growing popularity, expanded to its present 18-hole layout. The executive length course features narrow fairways lined with mature trees and undulating greens, many of which are protected by strategically placed bunkers. There are also water hazards that come into play on a few holes. At just under 4,000 yards the length makes Cultus Lake Golf Club accessible to beginners but it has enough challenges to entertain more advanced golfers. In addition to the golf course, there are extensive practice facilities including a 100-yard practice hole with a sand bunker, two putting greens, and a covered driving range available with numerous targets.

Walk In A Park

Cultus is located adjacent to Cultus Lake and feels/looks like a park. The course was lush green despite the late summer date. It is an executive length course but the narrow fairways present a challenge to good golfers.

Golf fees

The course is very good. Well taken care of;great staff; very nice restaurant. No complaints there.
However, I do not think the price through Golfnow is fair. I paid as much as what the course itself charges. No benefit there after paying the fees. In fact, I paid more. My other complaint is that you don't offer good options on courses around Abbotsford. Some are very poor courses. The list has depleated over the last few years. You need better choices(like Sandpiper,The falls, Mission, Chiliwack etc.)

Consistent

Cultus Lake has always been a great year round facility in the lower mainland. Heated and covered driving range now equip with TopTracer is a big draw for the property. The most picturesque range in the area gives Cultus huge emotional value.

The course itself is challenging. It's tight and you have to be strategic to score well. This family that owns and operates the business are very respected in the community and work hard for the guests. I've spent time chatting with them on occasion and they are genuine.

For our family its a great place to visit and we have really enjoyed their new hitting bays with TopTracer, full menu and drinks.

Keep up the great work!

Very Challenging short course

Even though it's a short course, there are a lot greens you probably won't be able to hit in one shot. Therefore, they should have coloured stakes in the ground on the fairways, so you know what club to hit to lay up from the tee. It's very hard to know these things unless you play it and manually record your shots from a round and learn from those mistakes for the next round. Most good golf courses have stakes in the ground also so people can see them from the trees, or where ever they are if they don't hit it right down the middle of the fairway. This also speeds up the pace of play. I was happy the course was busy and they were getting a lot of business as I know many businesses are suffering during this COVID-19 crisis. I just wish they had a couple of Marshals driving around controlling pace of play. There were a lot of drunks on the course. The round took us about 4 hours! This course should only take 3 hours when people follow proper pace of play and understand golf etiquette. It rained of and on while my wife and I played. We tried to get a drive cart but they were all booked, couldn't even get one for the back 9. It's fine to walk, it's flat and short course, but when you stand and wait 10 minutes on every hole for slow golf play the drive cart would of been nice. Bring your range finders when you play, I found the coloured circles were off in the fairways, when I could find them in the fair ways. If you don't have a range finder, you may also want to bring binoculars, so you can see the flags from a distance. They use black flags a lot which are really hard to see from a distance. I do like that the course as it is challenging, and you have plan your shots, it's a fairly well maintained course. Fairways are narrow, and lots of trees, so you must be very accurate with your shots. Lot's of dog leg holes, with tall trees. You really need to be strategic and plan each shot to score well on this course. Would I play this course again? Yes, of course. I like a challenge. I may elect for an early morning tee time to avoid the drunks and and the slow play tournaments. There is a lot of beginners on this course and people who can barely hit the ball, and then decide to drink a lot of alcohol, thinking that will help there game. So, needless to say it's frustrating watching drunks play extremely slow and make it a long day for everyone else. If you play this course, I suggest to book an early morning time to avoid slow play, tournaments, and drunks, especially on the weekend. Also, maybe if you want a drive cart call ahead and see if you can reserve one? I am not sure.? I have never been to a golf course in my life where there were no drive golf carts available. They were allowing 2 people per golf cart.

Nice round of golf, at a good price - a few hold ups

The three of us arrived to find a very full parking lot (despite lots of tee times showing open on the site).

Went into the pro shop to sort out our tee time and get our cart, very friendly staff member (arrived 11:15am) who got us sorted out and ready to go..

Discovered a tournament had started late due to frost (couldn't be helped). Got to the first tee at our allotted time, found we were 4th in line, ended up waiting a further 20 minutes to tee off. The course was in good condition with just a few soft squashy spots which were mostly in the shade.

We kept being held up by the group of 3 older gentlemen in front of us, who in no way were playing ready golf, especially when putting. Would have been nice to have seen the marshal more than the one time right the start so we could have asked him to have a word.

Snack shop was pretty empty, but the guy did say he had just been emptied out by the tournament and hadn't had a chance to restock.

Overall a nice round and I would go back.
