About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018.
West Palm Beach Golf Course has hosted a variety of tournaments since opening in 1947, some that have included famous players such as Arnold Palmer. This historic course stands out from all of the area's public courses. Unlike Florida's many flat courses, West Palm Beach has an undulating terrain that provides interesting elevation changes. The course features elevated tees and greens and rarely is there a flat lie. The rolling hills are covered with native vegetation, palm trees, and mature pines and oaks. There is also no water to be found on the golf course, another rare occurrence in this area. In 2009, the course underwent a major renovation that made it environmentally friendly. There is also a full grass driving range and large practice area that overlook West Palm Beach Golf Course.

Where’s the grass?
Thought it was a good value until we got on the course. In the (temporary) clubhouse they told us irrigation system did not work but greens were great. This course had patches of green but mostly it was a barren, sandy piece of property. The fairways were near non- existent of grass and greens were sandy. Had one of the most unpleasant round of golf in a long time due to the poor course conditions.
The course is due to close in about a month for renovations. It is a shame they did not close it one month ago .I played the course with my cousin and was embarrassed that I chose this place to play. Very bad.
First Round of Year
Played our first round of the year at this course. Was a good warm up. Course was in rough shape due to problems with irrigation. Only green grass were the greens. Staff were excellent, pace of play was excellent. This is a municipal course so good value for money. Not too challenging but offers good options for tee choices. Some narrow fairways kept it interesting. Would have given a three if the fairway conditions were better. Too bad about the irrigation system issues.
Worst Golf Course in America
This was by far the worst course I have ever played on in my life. Aside from dodging fire ants on every hole in what were supposed to be fairways, making the course challenging, I have never played on completely burned out brown fairways with almost no grass. It was like playing on a clay tennis court with some green confetti tossed on it. The greens were okay, but if you landed on them, the effect was like a basketball landing on a wood floor. All of the ball washers were empty and looked as if they had been through a war. Pace of play was extremely slow as a husband and wife were in front of us, playing at a pace of 15 to 20 minutes per hole. I dont think they have an irrigation system on the course. Tax dollars are certainly not being spent on this municipal greyhound racing track.
Hands Down The Worst Golf Course I Have Ever Played
This is the worst maintained course I have ever seen.
Fairways and rough in terrible condition
Looked like the course hadn’t been watered in months. Sand and dead grass fairways
THEFT
This was our winter "go to" course. In past years was in good to great condition. They claim the irrigation system was damaged in the hurricane. Then fix it.
Supposedly the course was sold is is going to be renovated.
It should be closed now instead of stealing from hard working people
Horrible
This course is dead. It is in horrible condition. DON'T GO THERE. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY TO TRY TO PLAY ON SAND AND TRUCK TRAILS.
Last time here
The course is in death roll waiting for the renovation/rebuilding to start. GolfNow should take this course off the listing as the condition is horrible.
I have played my last round here in this condition.
The Worst
The course is in the worst condition of any that I have played in my life (I am 71).There is hard pan everywhere! The fairways have no grass, they are essentially dirt. Even if you moved the ball, there was no grass to be found. I gave up after 7 holes. I asked an employee if there was a fungus or something of that nature but he replied that they have not been able to water for quite a while. I really don't understand how they can be open. At least the pro shop should warn you before taking your money. It is an embarrassment! Strongly urge players to do some research before paying sight unseen.
Desert golf
I am glad I have played this nice course in its glory but that was more than a year ago.
It is going to be totally renovated soon and that is why it is close to destruction now.
The greens are still good but the rest is not.
If you want to hit your fairway shots on sand and dead grass, you will love this course.
That course should be close
Golf Now should eliminate that course for ever. The greens were ok but fairways were realy terribles.I wont turn back play there.
sand every where
it was like playing on a beach where they tried to plant grass.
Fairways of sand
There are no grass fairways.Due to neglect, all the fairways have become dead weeds and sand.Save
your money and play elsewhere.
Absolutely a joke. I will never be back. Golf now had let me down for the first time. Paying thirty bucks here, I’d rather pay eighty at Sandhill Crane. Save your money.
Absolutely horrible conditions. It could be a nice course but every shot is a bunker shot. Eight dollars maybe if you’re desperate.
