good course to use all clubs in bag
since i last played in april front side fairways have deteriorated but still playable.greens need a little work.fun course just as long as the villages snobs stay away.short and long holes give the bag a full work out.
Used to like this course
Sad to say the fairways are starting to look like cow pastures with large tufts of crabgrass or something. Greens are better although, as everywhere, people do not feel the need to fix their ball marks. Sand in bunkers is more like fine soot. The biggest issue I had was the VERY aggressive fox squirrels. I do not blame them - the woman in the group ahead of us was feeding them all over the course. They come right up to you when you are trying to putt. They climb into the carts. Absolutely no fear of humans. IT IS ILLEGAL TO FEED THEM! It is obviously a favorite pastime since they come begging for food. Really made the game much less enjoyable - they will not leave you alone. Not sure I will be returning.
nice change of pace from the villages
I always play this course when visiting my parents, who live in The Villages. Great value for the money. A definite change of pace from The Villages. The greens were very slow, fairways were a bit rough in areas. Overall, I really enjoy playing this course.
Fair Shape
Except for one green, the greens are the best that I've seen them in years. However, the tee boxes and fairways were lacking. If they dug up the big weeds in the fairways and roughs, they could fill a dump truck. One thing that I would like to mention are the fees/taxes that golfnow is charging. They were 41.9%, of the greens fee , yes that's very close to half of the greens fee and taxes of the round of golf. Since last year, golfnow has tripled/quadrupled their fees. I have no problem with you guys making a profit by providing a service for we golfers, but you are getting greedy. I hope you read this and post it as a part of my review. In fact, please feel free to contact me by phone or email to further discuss it. Or, send a representative to my home and we can discuss it over an adult beverage!!!!
fun older course
this is an older course with small greens and tight fairways.the course was redone last summer and the fairways are still a little rough but not bad.the greens were good but it looks like the machinery needs a little fine tuning.this course doesn't get alot of play so getting around is enjoyable, just make sure there isn't a foursome of villagers in front of you.
challenging course
Course is loaded with lots of trees. Greens are very challenging and rewarding if up for it.
I would recommend to all of my family and friends to play this course.
Hope to be back soon to improve my score.

Miona Lakes Review
Good course. Best greens I've been on in a while.
Tee boxes need a little work, and cart path areas are generally very rough; many are unpaved.
Real great value and nice folks.
Would recommend to anyone/any level.
Course Review
This course is a very good test for all golfers. It has narrow tree lined fairways and small greens and not a lot of water.
Dangerous
Got hit by a golf ball near the green on Hole 5 by a guy teeing off on Hole 2. The ball hit my leg on the fly and I have a hematoma on my upper leg which is 8 inches in diameter. This huge bruise will be there for months.
We really liked Roger, the starter, and the lady in the pro shop. Both were so friendly and personable, but after getting hit, we probably will never return.
OK Course
Sand traps need attention and a course ranger should make a few trips roundnow and then to speed up pace of play.
Greens were in great shape...fast and true.
The greens were rolling true and fast. Love 'em. Narrow fairways were a challenge. I enjoy that feature.
great plan b if you can't get a tee time in The Villages
Ver friendly check in. Played 9 holes on a beautiful and the pace was great. No one in front of us playing slow. Group behind pushed a bit but told us to take our time. Back nine had enough trees for nice scenery. Would play again Close to TVILLAGES at a good price
Small Greens and Tight Fairways
Miona Lake advertises the best greens in the area. The greens, while small, are in excellent shape but the course is in the area of the Villages and I don't think any greens in the area can beat the greens on the numerous courses in the Villages.
The tree lined fairways at Miona Lake are, for the most part, extremely narrow. On the first par 5, the fairway narrows to about 30 feet and I managed to hit trees on 4 straight shots. The two par 3s on the front nine use the same green but from different angles.
I've come close to being hit by golf balls on parallel fairways so I'm not a big fan of the Miona Lake layout which features all parallel fairways.
Not a particularly long course, the small greens and narrow fairways make this a challenging course. I got this on a golfnow hot deal, so the value for the money was good. I'd play it again but not for more then $15.00.
Nothing Special
We were not impressed with the condition of the course, the fairways and greens were sparse and in restrospect would not have played the course if we had known the condition prior to playing it.
Same as it's always been.
Fairway grass was mowed so short there was no padding under your ball. Greens looked nice but the balls hit bumps all the way to the hole. Tons of acorns & leaves on the fairway. Tee boxes were in poor shape. They allow groups of 5 which kept play hardly moving & of course no rangers to be seen.
Poor quality
Grass quality below average.
No markers found on most holes for 100, 150 or 200yds.
Some holes are too crowded by trees close to tee boxes. I don't mind trees but not too many trees.
Miona Lake
Nice course, friendly staff
I miss some guidelines to the hole layout at the Tee Box. If you have never played the course before, it would help to know where is water, bunkers, the flag.
Miona lake
Quite an improvement from last time we played here in the spring. Course is tight, challenge is there with the small greens. Fairway grass needs to grow a little more. Greens were in decent shape and the putts ran smooth.
Value plus golfing
price was great. no problem with coupon. The course is long and fairly good. Condition of course is so so but for the money it was great.
