Perfect Greens
The greens were absolutely an A+ along with the tee boxes I give an A+ but the fairways were in rough shape. For the $10.00 I paid it was worth it! Staff was very good!
Good Practice
Greens were in good shape with some cosmetic problems. Two were in excellent shape...Fairways, a little rough; not much grass to work with. Clean and replace was big!
Still hanging in there!
I reviewed this course in late April and there are no reviews in the last 6 months or so. The fairways and tee boxes are in much better condition - they still have to come a long way to be where they should but they have improved 1000% since the last time I played. The greens are very nice as always, except for number 8 (par three) which is in sad shape, something must have happened but whatever it was the other greens were spared. This is an older course that needs support to stay afloat, anything under $20 is a good deal and the greens make up for most, if not all of the other short-comings.
Good layout
I play in the villages and these greens are 100% better condition, rest of the course is rough but for what they charge it's hard to complain
Latest reviews are accurate ...
I've played the course numerous times but not recently. Just a year or so ago it was in much better shape all around but the conditions have deteriorated drastically in some areas. The fairways are sparse to nonexistent, you will have to clean mud and roll the ball over on almost all your shots but they are playable. The tee boxes aren't great - just find a level spot and go, don't worry about the markers. They are however keeping the greens in good shape! They have grass (expect for an out of the way patch here and there) and they are watering them - I hit a high ball and plugged on many of my shots so be kind and repair all ball marks please! The greens saved the day so if you get this for a reasonably good price then go out and enjoy your day, it's a good layout that rewards good shots and penalizes bad ones. Hopefully the fairways come back and they tidy up the boxes, it's a nice little course.
Worth the cost
Fairways are little tight on some holes and water does come into play on this course. If you spray your shots trees will definitely come into play. Some of the fairways are lacking grass but for the price I'd play this course again.
Needs Major Help!
Greens are no problem, roll good, a tad slow.
Fairways awful so move ball everywhere.
Tees - who cares.
Worth about $10 to just practice hitting a couple of balls on all shots.
course condition
course was in good condition, fairways needed work (more grass), other than that, very enjoyable.
Decent layout, poor conditions
Expect to lose balls in the middle of the "fairways" here. The layout is fine, plenty of good-length holes, but no irrigation system visible between tees and green, What you get are rock-hard fairways and plenty of oak leaves. Good luck spotting your ball. Decent greens and a friendly staff make this a good choice only if the price is right. I would give it another try if I had to.
Where is the grass?
Mionia Lake has a friendly staff and can be a challenge due to some tight fairways. The main reason I won't be back is the lack of fairway grass. This is a place where a cow would starve. The greens were in great shape, no complaints about them.
could be a nice golf course
They either have a bad superintendent or the owners don't want to sink any money into the course. Nice layout, but the front nine is in need of some repairs. Back nine is in somewhat better shape. I have not played here in the past, because I heard it was not kept up well. They were right !
COURSE NEEDS WORK
I would not recommend playing it now. Fairways sparse and bumpy greens.
go spend your money elsewhere
This course is what we call back home a goat ranch. It looks like all the goats ate the grass also. I will say this the greens at least had some grass otherwise they should give you a mat to hit your shots off the fairways. It's too bad because it's not a bad layout. you're better off spending your money on a more expensive course
very rough shape compared to what I've been playing
I wanted to see what it was like and now I know.
Rough Tee's and fairways. Did not finish since it was getting backed up after 8 holes.
nice course
Fairways run into other fairways. a little close to each other.
Over all enjoyable. I'll go again.
Gone downhill
First time since 2014. Rapidly going downhill. Fairways terrible, most greens terrible, but a couple are in good shape.
good course
fairways in places were in poor shape but overall not a bad place to play
Inconsistent greens
While the narrow fairways presented a challenge, the inconsistent speed of the greens made putting EXTREMELY frustrating. The sand was fair as was the ruff for this time of year. But the greens..............
