Don't play here unless...!
There's nothing visually exciting about West Orange CC when the first-time visitor like myself first arrives. Any golfer who has played Florida courses will recognize this layout with its generally straight fairways, limited bunkers and wide welcoming fairways lined by pine trees. BUT ... then you get to the greens, those magnificent Tif Eagle greens that are lightning fast and nearly pristine due to the limited play the private course gets. Don't play this course if you don't want to be challenged by greens that must be running 13 on the stimpmeter. There is some water and the par 3s from the tips are challenging ... and then you have to putt. Take the time to check out this course, just leave plenty of time for traffic in Windemere and some time on the practice greens!
Greens are excellent
Very well maintained course set in lovely surroundings. Although the elevations are not a significant feature the course lay out provides interesting challenges on most holes. The greens were very fast and in wonderful condition. Staff in the main were friendly and there was a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely play this course again and recommend it.
The Texas Group
Great challenges on some holes. Fairways and greens in excellent shape.
west Orange country club
Classic Florida course, greens in great shape. Fairways and tees were good as well. Holes were mostly straight away, quick sloping greens, most fairly small.
play this course
first time playing West Orange, I'll be back. Nice , quiet course, fantastic greens.
A quite place to enjoy, but nothing really special
This is just a good course to enjoy. Not very challenging, except some holes, that should be played precise. Tee boxes need some attention. Fairways and bunkers in good condition. Greens are good but slower.
Overall a pleasant place but not vey outstanding for a “private” club…
Fairways were too wet
The layout was average at best, the fairways were way too wet and had just been aerated.
west orange
My 1st time on West Orange and it was very nice...The best part of my round was how true and smooth the greens rolled. t was really nice to know when the ball was hit online it was going to go in...I enjoyed this course very much, and i will return.
very good course
This was my first time playing this course and I was impressed with the layout. the staff is very professional and friendly.
Nice day
In the summer months it's very hot and raining. This day the rain stayed away and made it a nice day. The trees through out the course kept me challenged. I was not pressure by many golfers to play fast or slow. Minimal crowds made it nicer. We stopped at the 19 hole bar and my partner drank a couple beers. Later we finished the back 9 holes in a timely fashion. The course played much more relaxed than other busier courses.
Old Country Club feel
West Orange has the feel of a CC built in the '70's era. Both nines start with Par 5's. Short walks between greens and tee. No elavation changes will make this a nice course to walk when the temp's start to cool down. Course is in great condition. Greens had been aerified about a week ago but were rolling pretty good and true. Would definetly play here again at the rate I got on Golfnow.
greens.
I have played here before and found it to be a fun place to grip and rip. When I booked, it was noted that the greens were aireated. No problem, played before under those conditions. The Pro Shop staff member stated the greens were still good to go. What I found was each and every green had so much sand on them, I could not putt. Because of the large clumps of sand, the ball wouldn't roll. I was informed that the members play another course during this time, because of the conditions. I would of passed on this round, had I known. Look forward to a return, when the greens are set.
Course in very good condition, be advised need to hydrate before starting back nine
The staff were very friendly and had an excellent lunch before starting play. Course is in very good condition, much better than other courses in FL booked with Golf Now. One complaint the heat index was 105, the staff needs to advise they do not have sufficient water for guest on back nine. The front nine had 3 water coolers providing adequate opportunities to hydrate. You need to go back to club house before starting back nine. There is only one water source and it is not until 15. The back nine is when you need the most hydration opportunities, especially in FL summer heat.
Happily Surprised
A Good/Excellent Golf Course, Well Maintained,
Fun To Play, The Real Challenge is the Small Greens,
and SPEED (quite fast !).
Definitely will play again.
very enjoyable course to play
enjoyed my 1st time playing . Would certainly play agin.
Great old school course
Feels like a course in the northeast - tree lined fairways and smaller greens. Not long - only 6450 from the back tees - but you better hit it straight. Some course maintenance going on but it was still in good shape. Try this one.
West Orange CC (June 2014)
Played June 19 to see course prior to playing a qualifier there later in year. Greens had been verticut very recently and sanded but still putted well. Fairways had been punched signficantly (necessary evil). Course flows well going out, returning to clubhouse at turn and then opposite direction on back 9. Greens are small and well guarded. Good test of precision. Driving is not terribly difficult; landing areas are large though you have to know where to land the ball to capitalize on good drives. Great facility to walk (even though we rode). Tees are short distances from preceding greens. Enjoyable round.
Great condition
fun course, in very good condition. some holes a little tricky off tee.
fantastic condision
We played this course for the first time and it will not be the last . the greens where some of the trickiest we have played and fast too
Even the rough had plenty of grass cover and yet a very fair course for good shots
We wish we had found this course sooner as our holiday is almost over .give it a try now !!!
