This course was in fair condition. Most of the fairways had large bare areas. And many of the greens were badly damaged and in need of repair.
Very wet
The course layout is good. Conditions were extremely wet and muddy. Lots of casual water.
Ball does not roll muddy around greens. There has not been rain for at least a week so I don’t know where the water is coming from
Poor conditions
We have not played Cypresswood for two years and we’re really disappointed with the conditions of the course. We understand that they have had a lot of rain but the grass in the fairways was non existent and the greens were a strange brown colour. The cart paths are terrible with HUGE potholes and ruts. They also had a big backlog on the first tee as the regular groups going out in front of us were allowed to go out with whoever showed up going over their designated tee times. The course seemed very busy but not sure what they are doing about putting money back into the course. I realize that it is tough times for running a golf course these days but this course has a nice layout and used to be a very good golf course.🏌🏿♂️
Getting better
Greens are 80% better then last year at this time ! Wet conditions on some of their fairways but... its rained quite a bit so overall ok. All in all much better playing conditions , its coming back !! great work by the grounds crew .
Wet and muddy !
Layout was decent. Pin position was tough . They were put on the slope part of most greens . Due to the previous day’s rain, the range was closed. it was cart path only. the tee boxes were in decent shape. The greens were rolling nice though.. but some had many unfixed divot marks. And one green had patches of sand but it was on the edges and did not affect putting . most of the fairways were very wet and muddy. where the dry areas are, there were barely any grass to hit off . I lift clean and placed all fairways shots. The starter George was very friendly and nice ! I may return in a few months or summer time , but will call and ask about the fairway condition before booking though . The course needs some more TLC and their cement cart paths needs fixing (the starter told us the club is saving up $ for this ) . Lots of pots holes and cracks.
Great shot values.
Great design , wide variety of challenging holes.
Conditions have improved here a great deal from previous years.
Greens much better . Aprons …great work here. Tees in good shape.
It was extremely wet when we played . Cart path only, in this case, great applause to management for keeping course safe from cart traffic in very wet fairways. Bravo.
Would have been better to walk that day but it was also cool and windy so we played nine holes and can’t wait to get back there.
This course is managed well and great value for the money.
Course was in terrible shape. from tee to green. The greens had a few bare spots and the fairways had many. Most of the people playing the course were slow and terrible golfers which didn’t suit well for a crowded day and me being a four handicap. Cart patch’s were cracked and broken all over the course. And I. Priced several people playing in jeans which was a first for me. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
Unfortunate Conditions
I am clarifying a previous review. We have played Cypresswood frequently over the years as winter residents to the area. It is a fine community, the people operating the golf course are friendly and efficient, and the operation is well managed. There are two significant drawbacks. The cart paths have been in poor condition for a lot of years. Most of the course sits on a peat-like soil that holds water when there is a lot of rain. There has been a lot of rain in the past while. Playing conditions are very wet to the point where a document is attached to the score card instructing you to use cart path only on some five or six holes. Being confined to the paths is a shock to the bones. There is considerable drive-cart damage to the soil in places. It would be preferable to have a trolley and walk the course. As things stand it will need to dry up significantly to merit a good value-for-money score.
