The first nine holes of Granite Pointe Golf Club were built in 1920 and were later joined by a back nine in 1993 that tumbles through the mountains. The layout features a number of risk-reward holes that require accurate shot-making. The golf course begins with rolling parkland and offers wide, player-friendly fairways but then becomes progressively more challenging as it winds through the mountains. There are several elevated tees on the back nine that offer spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the Kokanee Glacier. Holes 15-17, known as the Three Aces, offer some excellent scoring opportunities. The par-4 16th is touted to be one of the best holes in BC. The golf course finishes with its signature hole. This par 4's trademark is the massive granite boulder that partially blocks the view of the home stretch.

Use a cart on the back! Program your gps to find this one, non existent signage. And trust your Gps because you won't know you found it till you hit the parking lot. Didn't leave any ball marks on the tricky greens, and you'll be happy if you find a level lie on the fairways. Nobody here. Took 3 1/2 hrs to walk. Nice course

Even though we happened to arrive on a day they had the front closed for greens maintenance it made for an excellent opportunity to play the back 9 twice. It is the more challenging 9 and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Scenic mountain course. Very friendly staff. The front nine is easier to walk and the back quite hilly. Several holes have an uphill approach to the greens.

Granite Pointe in Nelson is a fun course with amazing views. The clubhouse is one of the best in the area, The staff is as good as it gets, The course is very desirable for the low handicappers from the blues. If you are an average golfer shorted out from the whites for even more fun. The course is a range plenty of parking tons of power carts and should be busier but with all the hiking, boating, shopping and Nelson culture it is not. Use golf now for best pricing or visit them as they are lenient

Novice golfers, my friend and I wanted to try improving our game. I made sure to book a tee time later in the afternoon so as not to hold up any pros. Although the day was winding down, the staff at the pro shop were beyond helpful, outfitting us with a power cart and club rentals. The service really made our day!

Great front nine with beautiful views. The people were all friendly. It was busy enough, but still had time to find balls. Sitting on the deck after the game in the sunshine added to the day!

I enjoyed my time at Granite Pointe. Make sure you keep your expectations down. This won't be a championship course, and the greens won't be rolling at double digits (probably down towards 5-6).

But for $20-40, playing Granite Pointe is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The course is full length, and fairly open. This means you get to pull driver very often and have some fun. There are some challenging holes to balance it out, and aggressive elevation changes leading to spectacular views of the Nelson arm of Kootaney Lake.

5 minutes from Baker Street doesn't hurt either. As you can squeeze in 18 holes during a fun filled day in Nelson.

If you are looking for a true quality round of golf in the Kootaneys, head north to Balfour/Kokanee, or south to Redstone. But if you want to take a breather and play a fun, local, and cheap course, head up the hill to Granite.

Granite pointe is an amazing course. Not super long but you need to play accurate shots to score well. Not many flat lies so approaches on most holes can be very challenging even after a great drive. The views of the lake and mountain are unbelievable. Greens are in fantastic shape, staff is great and the food in the clubhouse is excellent.

I haven't played this course since last year. I have to say I was very impressed with the condition of the course. The greens were in great shape and the overall course was well kept. Much better than last year.<br/> A bit disappointed in the beverage department. We stopped for a beer after the game and two sleeves were $12.50. Down town that same beer can be bought in the bar for 3.75 a piece. A bit much.

Staff were normal, not real helpful. Coarse is as bumpy as skiing down the expert mogul run at a ski hill. You almost lost your teeth riding the golf cart. Cart rental was $40.00 for 18 holes and it wasn't in very good shape. Greens were super fast. It was like putting on the sidewalk. Fairways were narrow and quite hilly. Big old trees had roots growing out of the ground and there were lots of large rocks in middle of fairway. This is definitely a mountain golf coarse, do beware.
