Great day, needed better marshalling

We had a great game today, unfortunately, our threesome was out behind a foursome , that happened to play very slowly. Before we knew it by the 3rd hope everyone was backed up due to this group. This carried on with 7-10 minute waits due to horrible golf etiquette by this foursome which really threw off our game. Thankfully the group behind us called the pro shop and they sent the Marshall out to speed things up. I just wish it could have been tackled sooner than it was. Ultimately, it’s a first world problem but hey the course was great and we had a wonderful time. But I blame the slow group for all my bogies!;)

Well worth driving up to Squamish for this course!

Spectacular golf course!! This place is always in amazing shape and the greens are some of the best in the Lower Mainland. One of my favorite courses to play anytime I get a chance. Friendly folks in the shop and great staff in the restaurant. Would recommend this course to anyone coming to visit Vancouver area or staying in Whistler.

Hidden Gem!

A few reliable sources told me that Squamish was a nice track to play so I decided to give it a try. I drove from the North Shore and it took me less time to get there than I was expecting (approx. 40 mintues), so it is actually closer than a lot of the other courses in the Lower Mainland. First of all, the conditions at Squamish were fantastic! The greens in particular were a pleasant surprise. Smooth as glass, FAST and true. Among the best I have seen in a long time. The layout was also solid, without any peculiar holes. After I finished my round, I couldn't single out an individual hole that was my favorite because they are all so playable, aesthetically pleasing and fun. It is a flat course but still filled with tons of character and charm. It's also a relatively short course (6500 yards from the tips and 6200 yards from the Blue Tees, which I played) yet it still proved to be enough of a challenge. Birdies are hard to come by at Squamish, but it probably won't beat you up too badly. While it is tight in places, generally you are given generous landing areas off the tee. There are only a handful of water hazards to swallow up stray shots and even fewer forced carries (only 3 to my recollection). The approach shots are where I found the true challenge to come from. If you miss the putting surface, you will likely be faced with a difficult chip because there is a drop off surrounding most of the greens. My iron game was a bit lackluster today, and I definitely paid the price a couple of times. Fortunately, I had a good day with the putter and was able to salvage a 79. In terms of green fees - I played at 4 pm so I got on for $30. What a fantastic value! I would play this course again in a heart beat. While it's flashy neighbor Furry Creek nabs most of the attention, Squamish definitely boasts the finer layout. Truly a hidden gem!
