Cart Path Only
The course was very wet, but that was to be expected. The part that I had trouble with was the cart path only. I have bad knees and I always have the handicap flag everywhere I play, but being that it was cart path only, I only survived 11 holes and had to call it a day.........other than that, it was great to be able to get out and try to play since we have had a few storms in Northern California. Sincerely, Juanio
This course was in great shape and had some very challenging holes.
I had not played this course in a few years and found it to be a lot of fun to play, there were several holes that were challenging, the fairways and greens were in great shape. I would recommend this course.
Course is not maintained.
16 & 17 hole has been reduced to par 3. Needs attention.
Grass is bad.
Go Play
This is a valid option in the area when looking for a t-time
then greens are in good shape
The reasons the course is now rated highly with me is nothing has been done to change the 16th hole back to a par five, having it this way is a reason my friends will not play here
Par 5 16th has been reduced to a weak par 3
2 reasons for this low rating: maintenance and "permanent- temporary tees" on holes 16 and 17.
Greens were _very_ soft and shaggy when I played Green Tree GC which made them extremely slow. Based on the length of the grass on the greens, I'd be surprised if they were mowed the day I played. Fairways need to be re-seeded.
Hole 16 is a par 5 shortened to a weak par 3 #9-iron# with a temporary tee. Hole 17 is a shortened par 3 #8 or 9-iron# with the permanent tee box blocked off.
Combine the fact that hole 15 is the shortest par 3 on the course at a 100 yard wedge and you've got three short par 3's in a row on this course.
When I asked about holes 16 and 17, I was told because holes 16 and 17 are so close to the road/highway, they shortened them to reduce errant golf balls going onto the road. They mentioned "possibly" re-routing these holes or erecting a fence/net but no imminent plan was/is in place so I would consider these holes "permanent-temporary" tees and shortened until further notice.
They do have a driving range but mats were in bad shape and the range is in obvious need of general upkeep/maintenance.
Bottom-line, I would consider playing the course for $15-$18 in the condition it was in when I played it.
The staff was nice as well as the servers at the grill. Food was pretty tasty.
Ok
This course is the last choice in the area. If reasonably priced it would be crowded all the time. No one should ever pay more than $25 to play here.
Green tree golf course
Holes number 16 used to be par 5, some how covered to par 3 that was my big disappointment.
My home course
I'm partial to Green Tree because it's five minutes from my house, but it really is a fun day of golf for a reasonable price. Fairly quick round, because there are so few people playing, it's in good shape and the greens are true. Not sure why Hole 16 is still closed -- seems like they've been messing with it for over a year. One other tip -- don't pay GolfNow.com the extra bucks to make the twilight tee time -- it's the same price if you call GreenTree.
