Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus says modestly of Nicklaus North, "The idea was to build a course that people could enjoy." From the first hole on, it is clear that's an understatement. The conditioning at Nicklaus North reflects the standards set by Jack Nicklaus himself, so much so that he gave the course his name.

Destination Golf Whistler, BC

Whistler, BC has some great golf courses and outside activities that make this a great destination, especially if you are trying to beat the heat of August in South Carolina. Our first course was Nicklaus North and it was a great start to our golf adventure. Had a good breakfast in the adjacent restaurant and warmed up in average but adequate range facilities next to the first tee. Once we hit the course it was nothing but golf pleasure; an excellent course in superb condition with nearly perfect bent grass greens. The layout is simple, well marked for cart golfers and easy to walk if so inclined. It is a typical Nicklaus Signature course in that if you choose the right tee box you will have a challenging but fair and enjoyable round of golf. The Par 3s are a bit long on the back nine but we play golf to play holes like this. Needless to say, the views were beautiful with gorgeous mountains and glacier fed streams and lakes. Pace of play was fine which enabled us to take in the scenery, have a local brew on the patio of the same restaurant where we had breakfast, and to soak in the mountain air. A great experience and a must play course if Whistler is your choice of a golf vacation.

Fun from the first tee shot to the last putt

I was a huge fan of this course. It is a good test of golf, but still playable. One of my favorite Nicklaus designs I’ve ever played. Favorite hole was the 17th which had incredible views. You’ll be glad you played this one!

Absolutely Stunning Track

Cannot really say anything negative about this course - it is first class. Only complaint would be the driving range - quite small and felt like an after thought. Considering that land/space is premium in the mountains - can understand why there is a small range. Friendly staff would def play again. Have fun on 17th hole!

Best Course In Whistler Area

This is a great course. it is a challenging but very fair course. It is in incredible condition, especially considering that it was early in the season for them. Every hole offers an interesting look and challenge, and the views of the mountains and nature are awesome. This is a course you could play everyday. In addition, there is a great clubhouse and restaurant. Plus you can walk it, which is a huge plus! If you can only play one course play this one!

Great challenge

Greens are very fast and in excellent condition. The rough was long enough and wet enough (due to the weather) to be very challenging. If you get off line you can kiss your ball goodbye due to the truly impossible hazard areas.
Wonderful patio for pre game dining or after round refreshments.

A great contrast to Chateau Whistler

It is interesting to find so much flat land in the mountains and this is such a contrast from Chateau Whistler. Typical of Nicklaus golf courses, it was in great condition and he puts a premium on making the correct shot in order to score. The fairway widths were fair and the green sizes were mostly generous. The greens putted magnificently. There are some wonderful golf courses in the Whistler vicinity and this is one of them.

Fun Nicklaus design in a great setting

I'm torn between whether or not Fairmont Chateau Whistler or Nicklaus North is my favorite area course. Fairmont has more elevation change and awesome views, but Nicklaus North is such a pleasant walk from No. 1 to 18. It really feels like a members course, thanks to a seamless routing and superb conditions, as well as an Augusta-esque bridge to walk over. It's flat, yes, but there are some great scenic views. A bird sanctuary runs along one border of course, while Green Lake runs along the 16th & 17th holes.

There's a lot of room to hit tee shots out here but some of the holes are quite tough. All-in-all, it's a course I could play all summer, and I hope my first round here wasn't my last.

Done Right

Good feeling fro the property. Great practice facility, nice club house, restaurant and pro shop.

The course was in great condition, with beautiful BC views all around you.

Pace of play was very slow, which we complained about a few times. Can be very frustrating and ruin a good game or rhythm you have going.

Clean and crisp and I will be back!

Although a better overall operation and finer tuned then Chateau or Big Sky, I think I would pick either of them before NN still. Chateau for it's layout, views and challenge and Big Sky for its overall more low key and wild beauty. can't go wrong with any of the courses in the area though and they are all priced great!

A Beautiful Design

This is a course where you can score well if you are striking the ball as the greens are relatively flat and easy to read. But there is a LOT of trouble if you go astray or have poor club selection on the par 3s. I suspect that a lot of players go through more than a couple of sleeves of balls.

Every Jack course I've played always has challenging par 3s and this is no exception. He gets you right away with #2 which is about a 6 iron over a pond and a bunch of bunkers. The signature hole is the magnificent #17 which is 200 yards of carry to a smallish green bordering a beautiful mountain lake. One of the best par 3s you will play.

We actually played 54 holes this last time.....started at 7:30 AM and finished in the dusk at 8PM. The course was actually quite busy too which speaks well of the pace of play.

I've been playing here for years and it's always been in great shape. We had one bizarre episode with a hostile marshall a couple of years ago (which the management did NOT handle well) but generally the service is adequate.

Certainly a must play if you are in the Whistler area.

A wonder in Whistler

My only round on Nicklaus North came many moons ago in roughly 2006. I was playing in a Ryder Cup style writer's cup with Canadian journalists against American journalists. Needless to say, the bad guys (Canadians) won, but everybody walked off the course feeling like a champ. The superb conditioning is what I remember most all these years later. The greens were lightning fast and the rough sticky. I was a little disappointed the course is so flat, although the views of surrounding mountains are special. The whole experience - with the fancy restaurant in the swanky clubhouse - feels like you've been invited to a private club.

Beautiful!

Walked on and was paired with three members that made my round even more enjoyable.
Course is one of Jack's best as far as I'm concerned and the location in Whistler is without compare. Beautiful mountain views in all directions and the course conditioning was immaculate.
Clubhouse was impressive, but I didn't have time to try the dining/drinking experience.
