A beautiful setting, but not well maintained
We were in the area for a family gathering and decided to play a round of golf. With little to go by, we chose Mace Meadows. Clearly the golf course has seen better days, with dried out and lumpy fairways and rough tee boxes. Golf balls hitting the hard pan fairways would often roll forever, even into trouble. Many of the greens were also in poor shape, several with bare patches, and it seemed that the pins had not been rotated for weeks., if ever. If you don’t look too closely, the golf course is in a very attractive setting.
Mace lMeadows
The course is in need of a lot of maintenance, the greens are okay but the fairways need repair work, It is in need of grass. But for the price it is okay and still enjoyable and challenging.
Improvements continue
This was my first time playing at Mace. All greens are new and the putting green is being renovated. Layout is a lot of fun, especially the back nine. There are elevation changes but no ridiculous hole locations like shots from elevated tee to elevated green. I say it's walkable but with some effort. I could see this place as a top notch mountain golf course and with some seed, sand, and fertilizer it could be in great shape. The OB areas are georgeous with pines and plenty of wetlands areas,. Hope to see a full maintenance staff to whip this place into top shape!
They have spent a lot of money on reconditioning this course. With time it will only get better.
After a great deal of down time three years, the course has come back. There is still work to be done but the course was in much improved shape. I would recommend the course as the play pace is wonderful.

In Repair
This course is currently being restored. The fairways and greens have patches that are unplayable but there is grass there and they are trying to restore the course. If you play here, just know that youre going to get terrible lies (even on the fairway), bumpy greens, and beat up tee boxes.
If youre willing to just give yourself a little kick on to a patch of grass when you hit the fairways then its ok to come out if youre able to get a cheap deal. Just DO NOT EXPECT to be playing on a well maintained course anytime in the near future. Hope that they will give this course the attention it needs and it will be a nice little spot once more.
Lots of work before this can be called a golf course
I was hoping a serious buyer would acquire this course and make it a real golf course again, but alas it's just a dog track after over a years work. It doesn't look like they can or will do what is necessary to make it a playable golf course again. Every lie on the "fairway" was on dirt in between clumps of grass or more accurately weeds. The greens are like putting on a temporary green in the fairway with gaping craters on most. It was the least enjoyable round I've had ever. This is not golfing, but if you just want to hit some balls which is about all you can claim, just go to a driving range. You'll be better off.
Very poor condition
Green lost too much grasses
Fairway grasses are too bad and very wet. It used to be a fair condition but not any more.
Worst golfing experience ever!
Worst golfing experience ever. Course conditions horrendous. Used to be a nice course and new owners haven't done anything to improve or renovate course.
Course Needs Work
Used to play this course a lot before it closed down. Saw that it had opened back up last month so thought I would give it a try. Granted it had rained a few days before so the course was wet. Couldn't take a cart out so walked it. The fairways could use some work, not terrible but I like my ball to sit on grass and not in some holes. The tee boxes need work, very uneven, sand traps even though I didn't go in any need a lot of work. The greens, most were in decent shape but some you could not even putt on. I was told that they are in the process of fixing it up so I am going to come back in the spring and try it again. If they fix it up this is really a nice little course, hope they get it going because I really like the atmosphere. If you can get out for around $20 I would recommend this course.
Excellent golfing time,we love golfing at M.M
LOVE IT excellent .We have been golfing at Mace Meadow for 5 years i have golf in lots of golf corse over 30 years and this is the best in California .
No Greens
Unfortunately this courses' greens are in such disrepair that they are unplayable. They have make shift holes short of the greens in the fairways.
Course is closing in a few weeks. Looking for a buyer. Do you have $500,000 for the establishment and a million or two to restore the greens and irrigation system?
Got to be kidding
Where did the great little course we played four years ago go? I realize the drought has had an impact on all courses, but this is ridiculous. Temporary greens is understandable, but mow them once in a while. If it wasn't for the deer, I'm not sure the fairways would be mowed. When we asked about the conditions we got a shoulder shrug and no explanation. Can't believe they,re still open??
Need to close course
Pictures of golf course are not representative of the current conditions. They need to either close the course until next spring or they need to have recycled water trucked in. The fairways were like hitting on concrete, and the greens are completely gone. Temporary greens 30 to 60 yards short of regulation greens. Im sure they can get it back into playable condition, but it's going to take some time
better days
need to do a major repair, many greens unputable, this is great course when it is up to par
So much potential!
While the location is beautiful and the layout is very nice among the trees, the quality of the fairways and greens was sad. I don't know the reason for the lack of care... maybe the water crisis, but I would not be able to recommend this course until it is completely restored.
Awful and unplayable
Course was atrocious. Greens were half burned and half unmowed. Unplayable. The fairways are like playing off of concrete. Staff says they have not watered the course in over 2 weeks. The staff knows how terrible the conditions are, but offer no discounts. That is hard to comprehend. Also found the lady in the pro shop a bit rude and unfriendly. I wound not recommend this course to anyone.
Great Place To Get Away From It All
I love this place for so many reasons. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the scenery is amazing, and the course is fun! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a great place to get away from the stresses of life and bask in plenty of fresh air and enjoy a great course!
I want to add that due to the extreme drought and the need for water conservation, the course is somewhat dry...but that is to be expected under the circumstances.
We are so glad you enjoy and continue to enjoy your time here with us! Thank you so much for the amazing feedback, it's greatly appreciated! We look forward to seeing you soon.
