Holidays
It was memorial day so I expected it to be slow. When it was are tee time we had two groups still ahead of us that had not started yet. Almost six hours for the round is a bit much. The course is playing well and the greens are in good shape. Pin locations were interesting on a few holes but made it fun. I recommend it but maybe skip the holiday round.
Well Maintained
But! There is one thing this Course needs to improve on and I have been saying it for years ? They need more sand in the greenside bunkers. The way the bunkers are now are fine for the Fairway bunkers. But it's like hitting out of dirt on the greenside bunkers and that is not right. Other than that this courses in great shape the greens are great and it's playing very well
Friendly Local Course
This is a nice little links type course that I frequent often, as it is close to my home. The staff here is always friendly and accommodating. Course conditions are generally good, except during the wet season, where the course does not drain well, leading to many plugged balls and generally soft conditions. Now that the course has dried out for the season it plays very well, with enough challenges to keep the better players interested, while allowing beginners like me (1 year) to still put up a respectable round. Greens tend to stimp a bit lower than some of the nicer courses, and the grounds are well maintained. Definitely worth a visit!
Great course for the money, excellent greens!
Spring golf on the west coast reflected in my review. Courses are going to be soft and wet this time of year but the course was very playable. Winter rules because of the amount of mud on the ball.
Course conditions were very good and the course design is very exciting with some blind shots. Greens were in great shape and offered some challenge.
I look forward to playing here again later in the season to see the course at its best.
Best play is when cool and dry
OK, it's Oregon and we get plenty of rain. Keeping that in mind you should expect it to be muddy if playing after some recent rain. I drove but was required to stay on the cart path due to soft (very soft) conditions. much of the fairways were difficult to walk across to get to my ball from the cart path. Could feel yourself sinking when walking. The last time I played here it was dry 90 degrees and I cooked in the sun (very little shade) and great if you don't want to hit trees. Other than that, it's a nice course, and they offer a chipping practice area. The driving range is sometimes off the grass when conditions are good. Staff is great, and the food is 3.5 stars.
Fantastic bang for your buck
The staff is always friendly and courteous. They make your time at the facility very inviting. The course is very user-friendly and kept in Tip-Top shape. Pretty wet in the winter as are most courses in the area. If you're a first-time player I'm sure you'll enjoy the beauty of the area and the layout of the course.
Unsatisfactory drainage
This course is in need of drainage renovation. Very swampy conditions even though it’s been dry for over 4 days. Save your money until summer time to play here. There are better courses in the metro area to play at this time of the year if you have the itch.
muddy
The course hasn't dried out yet. The fairways were uniformly soggy, plugged ball the rule of the day.
Great course to play. It's just too muddy after weeks of rain.
Fun course.
Great shape for winter conditions. Greens are in very good shape , rough trimmed. Recommend.
Very nice course
Excellent value with the golf now deal. Fun layout. The conditions were extremely muddy; but that’s to be expected during this time of year. Looking forward to playing here during summer.
If you pay for the hot deal you must ride with someone
I was told by the course with the hot deal you have to ride with someone. Even if you are a single. If you want your own cart it was an extra $10.00.
Besides that the course was really good. For being in Oregon in January.
Quail Valley in Banks
Steve was at the front desk and he’s the coolest starter ever. He warned me it was wet and it was. I got some new Mizuno Irons for Christmas and couldn’t wait to play. On the 2nd tee box I was met with the most beautiful rainbow that stretched across the sky in front of it. It was so amazing I took a panoramic and put it on Facebook. The greens were in great shape but Quail is not one of the better draining courses. Still a great course for the money when it’s dry.
Nice place to do 18
A little wet but not crazy and the greens were really in good shape. So a little trouble on the freeways but not too bad nice putting so good round and nice view of local hills and greenery
Cold and foggy
Course was in great shape. The fog made the round challenging, but the greens putted very well when you got to them. I definitely helped knowing where the water hazards were and checking the good hole maps on the scorecard, because the fog made it harder to see them.
Langdon or Stone Creek .
I played Heron Lakes and it was fine. Nothing’s perfect this time of the year, but you won’t be losing balls in the fairway like I did here.
Could you name a couple courses in the area that are a little less soggy now. Coming down to from AK this week and looking for some places to play. I've played a lot the courses in the area. Thanks
