Great weather, course too soggy
For not seeing any measureable rain for 56 days, the course had clearly been over watered. There were areas of standing water and mud in the middle of the fairways causing very good shots to stick, there was no roll whatsoever. We had to play "Winter Rules" in the middle of August. Very disappointing the course superintendent didn't do a better job.
My first time there felt I was a pro from my name being played over the p.a. I was with a couple of members so following the course was a little easier than by myself. The layout has it's ups and downs but over all I would go back in the future.
Quail Valley
This is actually my home course for two years now. One of the best during the dry season and one of the sloppiest during the wet season. Rates are very good. Pace of play is usually very good with our bottleneck literally within the first 4 holes. After that the flow is good. Staff here are fantastic, food options are good and club house is comfortable to hang out afterwards. Lack of a drink cart during the week and often on the weekend is a sore spot.
Great Greens
Extremely friendly staff! Greens were perfect! Course layout is nice but not to difficult! A very novice friendly course in great condition!
Open course for a great price
Played this course with a friend while visiting family in Forest Grove. It was a hot day but the round was very enjoyable. Fairly open but stick to the fairways, as some holes have pretty thick brush surrounding. Not a ton of bunkers but still played like a moderate course in terms of difficulty. We rode and the carts were in good shape. The guys working in the pro shop were helpful but the lady working alone in the deli area was quickly overwhelmed around noon at the turn. I'd suggest getting your beers and sandwiches ahead of time, as it sounded like it took most people about 30 minutes for a beer and a cold sandwich closer to lunch time. Overall, got a great deal on GolfNow and would golf here again.
Worth the price
Course is very challenging but scoreable. It was a very warm day and they have two water coolers on the course. The one on the front was empty so when we made the turn i went in a said something to the staff. Got to the one on the back and it was empty as well. Shot an 83 though so who needs water lol.
Enjoyable 18
Enjoyed playing the course which has both short and long par 4s with good long and straight par 3s. Happy to play all year.
Out a ways
I really enjoy this course, greens were amazing. After a wet winter, the course is shaping up nicely. Wish it was closer to Vancouver and Portland.
Great price with cart included
Usually we walk, but cart included price was too low to resist. Course in great shape. True and level greens helped my putting!
Water bed
I've played this course when the ground was dry and it was great. Yesterday, even thought it was 80º and pretty clear, the ground was saturated. It was like walking on a water bed making it very difficult even on the fairways. Large swathes of the grass hadn't been mowed because the mower would have sunk into the ground leaving many areas on the fairway and along the sides in some places thick with high grass. If you didn't lose your ball on the fairway you could lose it in the fairway and more than one got "plugged" with high shots or even good drives.
I'll go back and will refer this course to friends but only after the ground dries. Never again in the water bed showroom. There should have been a warning for people scheduling tee times.
Solid course
Well maintained especially with all the rain the last 6 months. Greens rolled well. Forgiving off fairways even if you hit into second cut of rough. Definitely can score well just need to be accurate on approach with smaller greens. Really enjoyed our experience.
Soggy...but still a great day
Played this course on 4/21 and it was very soggy. It was a beautiful day and the course was in good shape otherwise. Note to perspective players, this is a dry weather course...would not recommend it after higher periods of rain. Everything else was great!
A little goggy but great greens
Overall the course was playable with how much rain we have had. A little more soggy spots than I would like, including loosing balls that landed in the middle of the fairway but the green were great and fast for this time of year.
Too wet
I was expecting this course to be better than what Iexperienced. Oregon has had a lot of rain but this course is on a terrain that doesn't drain very well and playing it in early November isn't the best time. Overall the course didn't appeal enough to me to make me want to go back in the middle of the summer when it would be dryer.
Saturday Quail valley
Another pleasant experience at Quail.
I guess the weather scared away most weekend golfers so that allowed us to get our round in under four hours. Letting through a couple of twosomes didn't increase the time to play too much either. Fall colors are always great here. Course drainage was working very well so despite the previous weeks rain the course didn't stretch out too much and good bounces were had on occasion. Watch out for the approach on seventeen, its a little soft.
